\* “Liverpool sign a South American player” Take your pick from Mark Gonzalez, Fabio Aurelio and Gabriel Paletta.
\* “Spurs sign yet another midfielder” Didier Zakora, come on down.
\* “Liverpool sign a ne’er do well striker, who was a boyhood fan” Sounds like Craig Bellamy.
\* “Chelsea buy a player just to stop anyone else buying him” This one’s open to interpretation, but John Obi-Mikel?
