Well... even if Finland is meant to be a bilingual state with its military free zone where the Swedish minority lives.

And they are not taking part in the SAS airline... Point two. And they resisted to the invasion of Ikea until a few years ago... And they are angry because their favorite mustard is owned by a Swedish company...

Be careful with maps. They are projections. In reality, Northern and Southern countries are smaller than they seem on a map. Take a look on a globe and you will see the difference.

I think it depends on where the map is made. I remember looking at maps in Spain, and being amazed how small the states looked compared to our projections.

You're not alone... I learned that with this board... for us in french, it's always Angleterre (England), nobody ever says Royaume-Uni (UK) and very rarly Grande-Bretagne (Great Britain)

I learned the difference here with people, that's probably the only country in the world to have 3 "international" potential names ;-)

It would be like the USA, the USA + A.H. (Alaska and Hawaii), etc ;), they just refer to the continental USA.

As I remember, your airports refer to the US as the EU, just to confuse English speaking Europeans. Presumably the EU is known as the UE?

Look at a map. Canada has lots of bays (especially Hudson Bay)and a jagged coastline. And it's way was bigger than Norway, about 30 times bigger, so no way is Norway gonna make that up with a few fjords and a more jagged coastline. Most of the other really large countries (Russia, USA, China) are only surrounded by water on one or two sides, but Canada besically is surrounded on three sides (north, east, west). :)

As I know Finland is part of Scandinavia... But no other scandinavian country likes them because they're kind of strange people . A pal of mine is half a fin (a very strange person indeed ).

And yes they have a obscure language somwhere between russian and "scandinavish"...
