There's a thread on misheard NO lyrics; what about misheard lyrics in general?

One of my favourites is from "She's Gone" by Hall & Oates: "She's gone, oh why, oh why, I better learn how to bathe"--maybe she's gone because he didn't? It's really "face," I think.

I also used think that Axl Rose was singing about the "very nice city where the grass is green and the girls are pretty."

And, I know someone who thought that the Human League sang "Don't you want three babies?".

What about you?

Bananarama's Venus:

Thought I heard

I'm your venus Your fire Please sign here

Always thought she was a bit evil to want a contract for that and all.

Years later found out that it was :

Your desire.

Listen to it now and I still hear it.

Cold Chisel, thought I heard:

"Cheap wine and a three day grope"

Now know it's "growth"

Walking in my shoes - I can still hear "but I think your postman stopped to rush" instead of "but I think your pulse would start to rush"

Derogatory term for a (usually younger) female, implying trashiness or tackiness, lower-class status, poor hygiene, flakiness, and a scrawny, pockmarked sort of ugliness. May also imply promiscuity, but not necessarily. Can apply to any race, but most commonly used to describe white trash.

The Clash "Rock The Gas Board". My Uncle Eddie worked for the Gas Board at the time. Possibly the source of my confusion.

In "White Man in Hammersmith Palais", I always thought the lyrics went:

They've got Butlin suits, ha, you think it's funny, turning rebellion into money

Turns out it was Burton suits...don't know where I got "Butlins" from (the old holiday camp that is always mentioned in Beatles biographies)
