What's your mobile ringtone?

Finally hooked my new phone up to a PC a couple of nights back and stuck some muzak on it.

After years of rigidly sticking to a phone ringtone, which actually sounds like a 'proper' ringtone, I'm experimenting with mp3's instead.

Anyone got any good recommendations? Can't be arsed to slice and dice mp3's so it's gotta be something which grabs you within the first 10secs of the song, if not shorter!

For New Order I've copied over Dreams Never End, and the 7" of Ceremony, cos I think they both open up nicely. Got the Vikings theme too, natch (For a Few Dollars More takes too long to get going!).

Currently using Al Naafyish though, an old electro track by Hashim, as that grabs you by the bollocks from the opening beat. Then there's Egypt Egypt by the Egyptian Lover, similar piece from the same era, which resonates nicely the second it starts.

I'm lost as to what else I could use, mind.

Anyone else?

My latest phone did not come with a ringer that sounded like any type of old phone ringing, which is what I had always preferred...and I hated every frigging tune that came preloaded on the phone, so I've got TPK and BLT as my ringtones...

Used to have blue monday, but MP3 ringtones aren't loud enough on my phone. Now I just use regular old programmed ringtone.

I use State of the Nation from a midi file.

Shite song, but good opening riff, and loud, almost made for a ringtone.

Mine is boring, but anytime I've looked for free ringtones online (I'm a cheap bastard) they don't have any available for LG phones that I've been able to find. The best ring tone I've got is Carmen (Bizet).

You mean you can still get free ringtones online? I thought that'd all been stopped! Where can you find them?

I did mine myself, it is CEREMONY from Brixton 2005, recorded by myself down the front, with the VIKINGS singing " Oh I'll break them all, no mercy shown ...."

Doesn't get much better than Ceremony. Temptation- even through the song to Green Eyes, Blue Eyes, Grey Eyes. . . . . Might also raise the stakes with the openning bars of SPECIAL. or EGG. Re : Order and their Hong Kong Phoey ?!

I don't know. I had looked a couple of years ago, just doing a google search, and found several, but none for my phone. Maybe they were all scams anyway.

Just a standard one but on my next phone I'll get some New Order ringtones.

used to edit midi files into snappy choruses and then put them on to my old phone, but they were a bit quiet and often pony. now I use mp3s - although it seems like cheating for some reason. again, I edit some to make the most of the song dynamics and use bluetooth or a USB cable.

at present I have: do the du (the missus calling)

homemade instrumentals of... subculture (generic ringtone) elegia (the alarm that wakes me every morning)

my text message alert is a vocal grab of charles hawtrey saying "oooh hellooo!" which has been interesting when I've received messages whilst in the gents.

"Singing"??!!!??!!

Recall that when I stopped over at Al's (following the Allly Pally thing last year) Alex had a neat ringtone: think it was Hooky bellowing summat obnoxious from a stage somewhere. I was even more impressed when it was Andy Rob on the other end of the line.....

Haven't really had the time to see how many mp3s are available for Verizon, so I just stuck with a few basics:

Trans-Europe Express (the tone actually sounds a lot like the song) is a general tone for voice mail.

Atmosphere for the alarm clock on my phone.

Handbags And Gladrags (aka theme from The Office) is what I use for work related numbers.

The Oregon fight song plays for the Oregon State scum who call (mostly coworkers), and also for friends and family.

A Kiss At The End Of The Rainbow ( the chorus from A Mighty Wind, with Mitch And Micky singing) is for some females.

Anybody who calls me gets to hear As It Is When It Was (part of the actual song) before I answer the phone.
