I've Had A Fucking Awesome Week.

It's been amazing!

Started on Wednesday when I woke up at 5am to catch a 6.30am flight to Dublin! Was pretty awesome, it looks like a really mint city. That big spire type thing in the centre is really cool.

Anyway bottom line is I was there to go and see Pearl Jam at The Point in Dublin. What a fucking top show. Played for about 2 and a half hours, every song was immense. Band were soooooooo good as usual. Classic setlist, they are just different class.

Got loads of points from Mike, then he played the whole solo to Alive right in front of me, like 2 feet away, He's unbelievable. Also, during Crazy Mary, Ed came over and passed me his wine, which was soooooo cool, proper tasty as well, better than the water from the security guys.

Got no sleep on Wednesday night, got back in England at half 7 on Thursday which was the day I would get my GCSE results. Got back in had a shower then shot off straight to school to pick em up. Got A* in French, Spanish, Geography, History, English Language and English Literature, got an A in Maths and B's in Latin and Biology.

Pretty impressed really as I thought I would do much worse, although I am pretty annoyed about Latin but anyway who cares it's gay and I've dropped it now.

Left for Leeds at about 2pm on Thursday, get down there a day early to get a decent camping spot. Had a pretty cool day just chilling around the site.

Friday was the main day for me really though, would be seeing Pearl Jam again wooooooo.

Got to the main stage early to watch Mastodon, who were actually pretty good, their drummer is awesome. Then I left cos loads of shitty emo was about to come on (take a bow Taking Back Sunday, Bullet For My Valentine, Killswitch Engage). Emo is shit, I wish it would just fuck right off.

Got back to the main stage in time for Slayer. Now I just have to say they were absolutely fucking top! Not heard much by them before, but my mate was like yeah man you will like them, and sure enough I did. The bassist/singer is a proper dude and the guitarists are amazing. They had like 40 amps on stage it was incredible.

Left again then as some more bollocks emo was about to come on (My Chemical Romance) and they are really shit! I hate them!!

So I just went to the bar while they were on, muttering about how shit they are to anyone who was around.

Managed to get right back down the front after all the emo kids left and was in a good spot to see Placebo. I really liked the song they opened up with, think it was called Meds, anyway it was cool. They also played Every Me Every You, The Bitter End and Nancy Boy, which I was happy about. Brian Molko is a bit of a dude, I got his plectrum.

And oh yes then it was time for Pearl Jam. Got right on the barrier straight in front of Eddie. Was simply incredible. Very different set to Dublin which was insanely cool. Got a plectrum and also gave him a high five when he came down to the crowd. Mike McCready is the best guitarist around. No doubt about that one. Another incredible setlist, 3 times I've seen them now, and really hope there's many more to come.

Ummmm didn't sleep on Friday night either, then on Saturday due to the abundance of shit bands I only decided to watch Eagles of Death Metal, The Twilight Singers feat. Mark (Legend) Lanegan and Primal Scream.

Sunday was just spent pising around the camp really, no bands that I wanted to see.

It pissed down on Sunday night and it was sooooooo muddy, but still, it was an awesome night.

How was Mark Lanegan? I always liked the Trees and his solo stuff. Seen him play both alone and with the Trees before, but it's been a long while.

And to make you jealous, here's one of my best mates bumping into someone outside the last Strokes show in Seattle. Eddie's girlfriend needed change or something and asked my pal, so Mr. Vedder gave her the nod to give him a $100 bill in exchange for four $20 bills. Afterwards, I told my mate to keep the $100 bill because that $20 profit is "Pearl Jam money" straight from the record company to his pocket. Should've called it a Ticketmaster service charge.

Lanegan was really good, never heard anything by the Twilight Singers before but they were really cool, was impressed.

He's a really great singer.

That spire in Dublin is great it's like your compass needle, you can always find o'connell street with it, and from there, anywhere else, no matter how shafted you are.

The Point RULES as well, mad looking place, especially with all the remains of railway lines and all in the carpark.

hey ultramega ok. did you like the neil and tim finn with pearl jam collaberation, im curious about that , you upstanding lad!, i had slayer on a cassete tape that me and my best friend used to listen to in the weekends back at high school, lol.fantomas and mastodon are kerazy and awesome acts to see live. my friend had no fucking idea what was going on at fantomas,those shows sell like hotcakes.

A mate of mine who I met up with in Dublin on Thursday for the Radiohead gig was at the Pearl Jam show on Wednesday at the Point, he thought they were amazing too. I managed to get a copy of Ten in the HMV sale the other day and to be honest they aren't really my cup of tea. Good to hear you had a good time in Dublin and in Leeds At 16 I wasn't allowed to head down to the Point for the Pet Shop Boys Nightlife tour, plus my parents wouldn't go with me either

Surprised people like the Point Depot - not pushed about it myself (probably caus I've had to sit through things like riverdance, toy show on ice-not too bad actually!- and BARNEY the big fucking purple twat dinosaur ).

Oh, BTW, it wasn't built by U2 - bono was never a stonemason 100+ years ago - but i think it featured as the setting for one of their early videos - back when they were only famous in ireland, the point was an empty warehouse & no one would venture down the docks at night (ah, Dublin in the rare auld times :dotdotdot: )
