The saying goes that we're supposed to get 'three score and ten', so 'middle aged' should be 'one and a half score and five' - 35.

In fact, I've never heard anyone under 50 called that and I know people close to 60 who would batter anyone that called them middle aged!

I'm 33 and I don't like loud music in pubs any more - I used to love it. I'm a bit less tolerant of discomfort and waiting around for things than I used to be. In fact, I'm turning into a bit of a grumpy old twat.

I'm 37, so middle aged is some time after that. Check back with me next year.

I'm already too old for that, but I forgot when it happened.

I like to think I'm still with it, at least in that I still understand what the hell the kids are talking about. The American ones, anyway.

Not that long ago Newsnight called 40 somethings the "new young",as i am 41 i was quite pleased with that.

I realy believe that most 35-40 year olds are in better shape than the average 20 something.Next time you go out on a Fri/Sat night take a look at the fat chain smoking 20 year olds.Play Station and Big Macs have alot to answer for.

45 30 (probably a little younger but 30s good) third is not measured by age.

70 is old yeah?,so half it and its 35. Im 35 now,guess its time to shop for clothes in M&S and buy those cheap shoes with the foam sole.

I guess average life expectancy is around 90 now???? So middle age would be 45ish

you know when you are 'too old for that' (whatever that is) when you actually mean it when you say it and it's not just an excuses for a hangover or a lazy day in bed.

you are probably 'un-with it' when you start saying phrases like 'un-with it'....
