I want to make a compilation cd from my collection. Can I use I-tunes to do this (i've never used this before) or is there a better/easier way?
I'm a bit hopeless with things like this.
Thanks

Create a new playlist and drag all the songs onto this playlist. Whack in a blank cd, view the playlist and their should be a Burn icon in the top right hand corner of iTunes to burn a CD of your compilation playlist
hope that helps![]()
Yep, iTunes. in the bottom left hand corner there should be an icon like a plus sign +, click on it and it'll create a new playlist under the other ones (Most Played, 25 Top Songs, Music Store etc) Then just go on your library and drag the songs across
I use windeas media player too.
But by default it saves your songs in the useless .wms format so if you put them onto your .mp3 player to listen to on the fuckin train to Glasgow, they won't work.
Fortunatley, you can choose to use Media Player in .mp3 mode and all will be well with the world.
What format does itunes use? An Apple-only one that you can only use for ipods?
I hate all these manufacturer-specific formats.
Hi, I'm Biginoil and I recomend the .MP3 format to YOU!

Anythin download off the itunes store is in AAC format. the only way to get these onto a non-ipod is to burn them onto cd and rip them back as mp3.
Or like me, you can convert all the mp3s into aac to save space on my ipod, break the ipod, and buy a non-ipod mp3 player, that doesnt play aac, and so have to convert 4000 songs to mp3. Thats what i get for bein a clever bastard ![]()
I've got a really cheap USB .mp3 player that I pop a couple of rekkids on when I'm going out.
When I grow up I want one of them Creative Zens - they the bizniss ![]()

Actually the ipod plays mp3s, I don't have anything on acc.

If iTunes would offer music in lossless cd quality, I would probably buy music from them. I don't buy lossy, compressed music, even if it's compressed by "state of the art" technology by Dolby.
You mean like records and tapes, all of which use MASSIVE compansion systems?
Isn't AAC lossless like FLAC anyway?
Biggie's spot on, proprietry formats blow goats.
From what I can determine, mp4 is just mp3 audio with a different file format. Mpeg4 video is actually an Mpeg2 video stream with an mp3 or lpcm audio track.
That's what I thought. Heard it compressed the songs to half a mp3....but it doesn't seem that many things play mp4s....is this right?

You gonna tell us what's on this compilation ??
We might all want a copy ![]()
Actually, I forgot to mention..... Nero is better than i-tunes or WMP, because it has an excellent normalisation function. it adjusts all the tracks so that level differences in the recordings do not piss you off when listening to the compilation, can be handy if you are mixing a lot of different stuff.
my creative zen vision:m's got a 'smart volume' that supposedly normalizes the tracks. havent really put it to the test though, and i'dve thought it'd fuck up the equalizer (but at 128kbps mp3, the tracks are probably fucked anyway).
suppose i could stick some nick drake and chemical bros on, see if it does normalize it, but i might end up deaf![]()
