I've been meaning to get this album for ages. An article in the current NME reminded me, and I've just picked it up at lunchtime.

Wow - what a fantastic record! The kind of thing you can put on on a Sunday morning and spend all day making a bacon sandwich and reading the papers.

Any more recomendations in a similar vein?

ummm no but it is a killer record. Her killer husky voice, that soul soaking backing.....wish I actually had it (there's an idea!)

If you like that one, try "Born Under a Bad Sign" Albert King.

Albert backed by the Stax Records House Band, which was Booker T & The MGs. Cooking with gas....

Has anyone else got recent experience of buying classic albums by a dead lesbian?

Yeah, she's always been a top performer, even after the drink, drugs and sex scandals. It was good to see her bought back from from near oblivion by Neil & Chris. To be factually accurate though, Diamond, she actually had a foot in both camps so to speak...

I've edited my original post - hopefully we can get some more suggestions for good old albums.
