Did they ever play a Moog Rogue? I don't recall spotting one in any gig photos.

I know in the early years they were really into the Arp Omni and then the Quadra. My favorite period for gearspotting is around 1983-84 though... Quadra, Prophet, Pro-One, Moog Source, and original Emulator... and the totally rough (no effects) DMX drum machine. You can actually listen to Thieves Like Us and pick out each one of those instruments as they play... fucking gorgeous.

No the never used a rogue, a source yes, but not a rogue. I mention the rogue cos I have one, and I know it can do the trigger trick, and really, since EGG and Temptation are strictly zero resonance affairs, the Moog can do just as good a job as the ARP, cos you will never hear the filters in action to make the distinction.

And yes, I love my ancient steam powered kit. EG...Sync 24 PISSES on midi....you could chain 808's and 303's from London to Glasgow and the fuckers would keep perfect time. Yet plug 5 pieces of midi kit together and the last one's half a bar behind

I never clean the circuit hum off any of my own drum samples, tis the best i can manage

I also ADORE my Mirage, digi (low spec of course) sampling and real filters, bliss

Is Temptation just run from a computer hard drive these days?

nope, I dunno about the low part, but the top bit is done using a noise gate. It give a simillar effect to triggering from a drum machine, and requires the exact same playing technique (ie the player worries about notes and lets the machine provide the rhythm), but not as cool.

YOUR NEMESIS on the other hand is just a backing tape from a mac.
