I'm trying to de-clutter my attic and shed but find I'm loathe to throw anything out. I've been pretty brave with some things but others I know I'll still have when I'm a geriatric.

Things like letters and cards I definitely can't get rid of. I also have a lot of back-issues of Viz magazines (when it was funny) that I still get out on occasion.

I also have two huge boxes full of tape cassettes that I know I'll never listen to again but still don't want to part with them. I have 2 broken telly's!! I know I'll never get them fixed so why I can't dump them I don't know.

It's when you keep newspapers every day that it becomes a problem. I was on a site visit last year and couldn't survey this house because this old guy was living in a maze of piled up newspapers, it was unbeleivable. A three bedroomed semi-detached house and he just had a corridor from the kitchen to the living room to the bathroom.

I'm sure his house was very warm though.

Are you admitting something?

I'm afraid so - it's hereditary (on my Mum's side, predominantly!)...

I used to collect magazines and some newspapers with "important" sports stuff in it. Tossed all of that long ago. I still have some cassettes and VHS tapes I know I'll never watch again. I also have trouble parting with clothes I'll never wear again. I'm really a pretty big pack rat, but lots of moves will force you to get rid of some stuff.

This has caused many an arguement in my household. I am a definate packrat, however my wife is not. She grew up in Japan where there is only room for what you need, and so she throws EVERYTHING away. A few tussles we've had over this.

I recently parted company (during a house move) with an almosst complete series of SoundonSound spanning from the mid 1980's until around 2000.

I HATE chucking stuff, because I always need things 2 days after they hit the bin.

I keep hardly anything,i live a throw-away lifestyle. Cant see the point in keeping stuff,if ive used something then ive probably had my money worth out of it.

Having had 2 days 'off', the garage has at last been cleared - 8 bin liners full of rubbish!!!!

Give the binnies something to moan about Monday morning......

I tend to stash old birthday cards, christening cards, things like that; I trim it down to 'important' ones though, but nevertheless, can't open the top wardrobe without incurring a bruise or two!

Just a thought - anyone want to buy a 'home' gym; 2 ballgowns, 2 matching pair of shoes and bags; couple of leather jackets (worn once), a guitar and a Roland Cartier watch?

Because the last time I did a car boot, although I made £100, I still had loads of stuff left. Then I went for a look round the car boot, and ended up buying more crap!

It was a struggle believe me, I was supposed to be there for 7, made it for 8! Buggered my sleep up for weeks it did, I'm definitely NOT a morning person!

I reckon next time I do one, I'll just stay awake the night before!
