Well, fuck my old boots! I can hardly believe I am writing this:

10 stingrays have been found murdered on a beach in Australia.

Their tails had been cut off in an aparent revenge attack by fans of the animal abuser Steve Irwin.

in common with most rays the only decent eating on them is their wings. But they are tough and require hanging (ie, partial rotting)

In Iceland, people catch common skate and thornback rays, put them in a hole and piss on them. They then dig them up a year later and eat them. The ODDEST thing about this, is that the cartledge in ray "bones" rots into....uric acid...which is pish anyway.

Yep, the wings of skates, a type of large ray, are commonly punched out and sold as "sea scallops" (much the way dogfish is often used in English fish and chips instead of cod). You can tell whether you're getting the real deal or skate by checking to see which way the muscle fibers run. I've caught a few of them on rod and reel and they're heavy mutherfuckers, but they don't put up any fight at all, just let you haul them to the surface.

As often as not they kite up to the surface. Mind you, I had a thorny dive on me one night, not a lot I could do to stop the bugger.

Police have released a photo of the chief suspect, taken at the scene:

He seems to operate a high-powered speedboat, answers to "Brother!", and is known to rip off his shirt at the slightest provocation. If you see this man, do not approach him, he's considered armed and dangerous. He also may be impotent. :evil4:
