Things I like : Kompakt-related artists like Thomas Fehlmann, Underworld, Aphex Twin (Selected Ambient Works 1 is a big fav of mine), Cybotron, Severed Heads, and, er, I guess thats it.
So, from that list, can anyone suggest any other intersting artists?
If you like Aphex Twin, I'd recommend Mu-ziq (or U-ziq). Personal friend of Mr. Richard D. James, and it shows. Good stuff though.
Hm... sounds like you might get into Autechre, Gus Gus, Orbital, Plastikman... to name a few...

Go for Autechre. Lot of pretentious knob-twiddling in there but they hit the right beat occasionally.
Try also Anthony Rother and Little Computer People.

Went to see 'em in this place in Belfast, which was basically the sort of Village pub one might find up in the wilds of the North of Engerland...except, they had bolted on about 6 plush dining tables at one end of it, and a sort of bedroom sized bit with speakers at the other (erm The Front Page....does my description tally do you think Owens?).
Anyway, there was some overpaid record playing type on for sodding ages before them....I had SO nearly lost the will to live, and totally lost the will to drink, figuring that there was no sense in making all this endless standing around any trickier than it had to be.
So eventually they took over. Opening tune kicked in, absolutely amazing stuff. BUT, I noticed this HUGE flashing thing near them. I at first took it for a jukebox shell that some wiseass had shoved a sound triggered light into. I did a double take and the horrible truth hit me. I turned to whichever unfortunate mate of mine was beside me and remarked....."oh dear, that's a Community speaker and........" I was cut off with "shut up Steve, can you not just listen and enjoy without picking every minute detail apart" Had there been time, what I would have explained is that Community speakers are equiped with a rather nifty feature.....they have an overload disipation system, which not only gives you a bit of a margin for error on your levels, but warns you....because the excess power is shunted through a valve (as in vacum tube) or something, which lights up a little
So if we bear in mind that this particular one was in fact so bright it could very easily have been mistaken for a stage light (even by someone not as hammered as I), it becomes clear why I never got to explain ( at least not in time).
The noise was really good like a rifle crack with a slight sizzle after it. I've heard one or two big, REALLY big, soundsystems let go (and not by my hand either..weelllllll ;) )bit they usually trip out before anything really awful happens, and a blast of cold air and good kick get's em going again. But this, this was a tiny little rig, yet it FUCKED itself....voice coil melts and creates a total short accross the amp, which SHITES itself...fatally. I assume some asswipe had nailed the fuse holders or tinfoiled the fuses or something cos the magic smoke all got out of the amp and it wouldn;t work again 
Anyway, they lashed something up and continued quietly, which was a shame, because there really is a minimum level that is needed for electronic music....especially in the company of 150 smashed paddies.
But they were really good....not Orbital good or Orb good ( tho they are hardly techno and its all done with smoke, mirrors and a 24track HD recorder). And there, at last we reach the point of this post.
They are rather good live .....but not if they play in a pisshole where the house engineer is named Professor Bunsen...Beaker would have been better, really.

Last time I was there, it looked like this:
goldie: not exactly techno, but drum 'n' bass. plus, he's fierce. as is roni size.
for mellow music i suggest air, particularly their album moon safari. sigur ros is on the mellow side, as well.
and of course you can't forget 808 state!

Mu-ziq were wicked.. Tango n' Vectif is one of those all time classic albums.

Also, DR. that Autechre story is great. Too bad they'll never tour the hinterland.
