The original DVD had a Q and A session with Hoskins, where that was brought up. He said that he was going to sue the studio, and Alec Guiness was backing him.

And yes, greatest ending to a film. And Bob thought it would have ruined the film!

Love the film, but Get Carter can't be beaten.

Get Carter's another film that has a great ending. Wasn't expecting it, and what a shock.

Pity Stallone remade it.:nonono:

I watched this twice last week on FilmFour, as i'm guessing you did, Al. I was toying with the idea of posting a best Britsh gangster films thread.

It is, without doubt, the best, and Bob has never bettered himself since.

Nope, just read the article this morning in the paper and that prompted my post. I do, however, have it on DVD so will give it a spin over the coming days.

Also, the best closing sequence in a film ever, IMhO. 'Arold in the back of the black taxi... .

dead fuckin right. It was on a couple of days ago and thanks to my shite memory it was like watching a new film.

But I knew that sequence was coming.....even better second time round.

was it a snarl or a knowing grin? Quality.

Either way, one less cockney on this planet so fictional or not it felt good. :thumb:

Love that, 'You're a big man, but you're out of shape. With me it's a full time job.' Is an excellent line. Similar in jest to 'I may be drunk (or full of Drugs whatever the preference). But you are ugly and tomorrow I will be clean but you will still be ugly.' or something to that effect.

as for anything mafia type. superb. Be great if there were less TV Stations but they'd incl. 1. news and sport. 2. ganster types of all quality. 3. Past and current episodes of 24 the show, CSIs, ER, Grey's Anatomy..
