murals, public art and gelato. i knew there had to be at least one reason for me going back there.

There are very few good reasons to visit Philly, but there are maybe about 5 reasons why you should.

1. Most corner stores and Wawa make pretty darn good hoagies.
2. Cheesesteaks (and vegetarian cheesesteaks at Gianna's).
3. To go clubbing on Delaware avenue.
4. To hang around South Street before 11pm.
5. To have real "wudder" ice and soft pretzels.

Reasons you should NOT visit Philly:

1. Most of the neighborhoods aren't worth walking through.
2. It's filthy.
3. You can't understand 90% of the residents.
4. SEPTA.
5. You'll probably get stuck on the Schyukyl expressway at some point.
6. The smell of the Delware and Schyukyl rivers.
7. South Street after 11pm.
8. Eagles fans.
9. Scrapple

Murder's tied in with the fact that you can't walk through most of the neighborhoods without carrying a weapon.

you also mustn't leave out a tour of Camden. A work colleague of mine was almost lynched there a few years back.

during my first visit we thought it would be a good idea to stay in Camden, but the security guard we saw in New Jersey when seeing the behind of the Statue of Liberty advised strongly against that.

Camden's a dangerous dump. About six years ago, I was in the car with my mother as she was looking for a dentist's office in Collingswood, NJ, but she winded up getting lost in Camden and I got a nice tour of Camden's neighborhoods. Did you know that the first record was recorded there?

the story goes that my co-worker was supposed to meet a friend in Philly, but he had a bit of time so he went and did some exploring. He then rang his friend who asked him where he was. He said a bar in Camden. His friend replied with words to the effect, "don't move. i'm coming right away."

If the bar was on the waterfront in Camden it probably wasn't entirely bad. The aquarium and the Tweeter center - where I saw the Cure back in 2000 - are there, but that's about the extent in which Camden is walkable. Even then, when my mother was picking a friend and I from seeing the Cure there, we got stuck in a traffic jam going to the Ben Franklin bridge and a homeless woman kept walking through all of the cars asking people for money or food. Aside from that small bit of Camden, don't ever find yourself lost there.

I am not one scared by neighborhoods at all...

I worked in Camden for a week on a campaign.. and i was like "umm yeah... I'm going back to Philly kthnx"

nothing in philly scares me...Camden is frightening.

This is a hoagie: It's sandwich with a thich roll, cold cuts, cheese, lettuce, tomato, hot peppers, and oil.

This is a cheesesteak, with fried onions.

And scrapple is just meat scraps pressed into sheets to look like shingles. You're supposed to eat it for breakfast.

scrapple is like white pudding i guess I <3 scrapple, black and white pudding.

I don't eat any of it that much anymore that shit will kill you
