Police contact the FA over Barton Merseyside Police have been in contact with the Football Association after Manchester City's Joey Barton exposed his backside to Everton fans.

Police are investigating the incident at the end of Saturday's 1-1 draw at Goodison Park, and brought it to the attention of referee Andre Marriner.

The Football Association has received his match report and is now deciding what if any action to take.

The incident happened after Micah Richards' late equalising goal.

The behaviour of Barton, 23, took the gloss off a hard-earned point for City, ending a run of 10 defeats in their last 11 away games.

Television pictures captured the incident, and police spoke to City manager Stuart Pearce abut it.

"I did not see it. But if anything did happen, we will look at it with an open mind and deal with it," said the City manager.

"The police approached me afterwards to make me aware of what had happened.

"I am sure the timing of our goal had a lot to do with any over-celebration.

"Maybe also there was the fact that one or two people have been saying things about our away form."

Everton fans reacted angrily before City keeper Nicky Weaver intervened.

Merseysider Barton has been involved in previous incidents with Everton fans, having had an altercation with a Toffees supporter in Thailand during a pre-season tour in summer 2005 which saw him sent back to England.

It wasn't shown live over here, so it may have been edited out, because I didn't get to see it.

city played poorly yesterday...

they played better in losses to reading and blackburn and those sides are not playing as well as everton (though you all were not on yesterday).

It was a gift that we didn't get thumped 4-nil.

The ten o'clock news (that's ten pm showed footage with his crack pixelated.

I mean, after the watershed and we can't see the top of a bloke's arse? I'm sure you see them all the time on those home improvement programmes.

What the news report didn't say was that Barton was the last one on the pitch because he'd gone over to give some disabled Everton lad his shirt and his moon was a reaction to some chanting.

It all seemed quite good-natured to me.

JB was a bit silly showing his arse, but i heard it was in response to the the taunts of 'wheres you brother gone' from the Everton fans. The incident to which they refer was a brutal axe murder committed by Bartons half / step brother. JB is not responsible for his brothers actions, and indeed appealed for him to turn himself into the police when he discovered that he was involved in the murder. The Everton fans discredited themselves for using this appaling murder to goad JB. The police, FA, authorities should have better things to worry about then a bit of arse being shown.

He'd have to go some to be the black sheep of his own family, never mind of Liverpool.

EDIT: This was in response to the post before last. In response to the last post, it seems that I was a bit hasty in saying that it all seemed good-natured.

I'm revising my opinion: I now think Joey under-reacted. He should have kicked someone in the fucking chest
