Any cheap places to stay in Manchester?

Might be heading to see Gary Numan at the Academy in December, so does anyone have any suggestions?

I must say that i am quite impressed with the speed that this thread has already turned inot a discussion about me.

We staid in hatter's hostel, tenner a night if you don't mind sharing a dorm, 20 if you do. Is a dodle to navigate back to from Apollo (as long as you don't panic and pay a fiver for a taxi to go the last 100yards)

days inn manchester on sackville street is 45 a night it's on University of Manchester (Nee UMIST) campus right down the street from the old factory office (and behind the BBC). It's within walking distance from the train station and the coach station.

Now, *I* don't think it's walkable to the Academy, but it's been determined on these very boards the last time this came up (and at Liverpool) that I'm fat and lazy, and so I'm going to say it's walkable to the Academy.

and if you agree with me in that it's a bit far.. there's loads of buses going down oxford rd

but I wouldn't walk it on gig night is what I mean to say. I like knowing I'm there in plenty of time (and that I'm not walking unecessarily so that I'm rested to stand up the whole night)

Still a good hotel and cheap to stay

eton b&b in rusholme. Reasonable prices and you can negotiate.

there's a couple of nice pubs along Liverpool Rd in Castlefield have rooms.
