Going to see the Pet Shop Boys?

I know it's already been somewhere on the forum, but I'd like to announce I bought tickets for the Dallas concert on October 22nd. Anyone going there, too? I have to rent a car and drive 3 hours to get there. I hope the show'll be all worth it. (Their 1997 concert was terrible - a bare scene and two people standing still, no background singers, no stage design, no light projectors, nothing; it was almost a Chekhov play with music).

Well according to the PSB official website:

"Pet Shop Boys and their singers and dancers have been rehearsing all week for their tour of Canada, USA and Mexico which begins on October 10 in Montreal and finishes on November 16 in Monterrey.

The show is an expanded version with more songs of the production which Pet Shop Boys have been touring throughout Europe over the summer. It is in two parts with an interval."

So hopefully it will not be like 1997 :)

I'll be heading to the Atlanta show on the 19th, which for me will be around a 4 1/2 hour drive each way. I'm taking off Friday so I'll be able to sleep.

THey'll be still using the set they used recently to promote FUNDAMENTAL probably.Very "cubist",quite a clever set, starts out as this giant box, which keeps unfolding after every song, till they do Dreaming Of The Queen,by which it's expanded into this giant screen with a backdrop of Diana's funeral.

If Chris Lowe still plays a Fairlight live then you must admit PSB are better then NO (now) at least in terms of not being miming rip off merchants. If not, they're just crap, end of.

And BTW, if Saddam Hussain, Bill Gates, George Bush and Ozzie binladen formed a fairlight orchestra I would love them too. Anyone who can run one of those things live is a hero......OMG even Gillian never managed it, and she's a machine GODDESS.

I don't think they, nor anyone else for that matter, tour with a Fairlight anymore.

When I saw PSB last I think Chris was behind a Roland JP-8000... which was probably MIDI'd to something else.

I went to see them last Sunday. A bit disappointing, although I had Sodom and Gomorrah show sitting next to me.

I briefly went on PETSHOPBOYSONLINE.COM,before my computer crashed about 3 years ago.Didn't use a forum but kept in touch with a fan down Leicester for a bit before I lost her e-mail address.

But why? Their texts are witty and funny. Their music is perfect for dancing halls. They've got a ready-made image.
