***WARNING: the 3 of you who may actually watch the japanese GP this afternoon, may not want to read this***
Asked bro to record the Japanese GP for me, to a shared drive as a raw mpeg stream. The plan was that I could just pick up the stream as soon as I got home from work, and start watching "as live" with the joy of being able to skip all the ads as I would have a good 2 hour buffer to play with. Also suggested to bro that he should test the video recorder system he created (a web interface where you set it like a VCR) as it had been a while since we'd used it this way.
Sadly, although he has a Bsc in computing, can actually program and is a developer and maintainer of a couple of Linux packages,I wouldn;t trust him with anything more important than a PS2...doubly so when shitefaced...which he got, while I was at work.
So I come rolling home, glad to be out of work, looking forward to Bournemouth, and thinking "class, a Gp to wacth before bed". I mounted the network drive. I looked in the directlory where tv streams live. I saw the file. I spotted the filesize fuckall bytes I spotted the modified time 5am (twas now after 7 and race would still have been on tv)
"ahhhhh" thinks I, " that'll be some strange thing cos it's not been closed and made into a "real " file, being a stream and all.
Nope. it was a file of exactly fuck ALL bytes that had been made at 5am and untouched since. BALLS SO, anyway, I was updating some software and thought it was time the old girl needed a reboot (once a month whether she needs it or not, especially after you update serious stuff ). While doing so, I was inwardly complaining about how I had to avoid the net and stuff until like 3pm. Up came the machine, and while booting it mentioned some changes in networking. So as soon as the desktop popped up, I moused the first thing that happened to appear. My news ticker. "I'll see if it's picked up any stories yet, if it has, the networking's OK" Can you see where this is going yet? Yup, as soon as the menu of news sites opened (the ticker itself hides below the taskbar in F1 season as a matter of course....it's annoying to look at all the time anyway), my bloody mouse was already hovering over Pitpass.com, and before I could do anything......up popped the headline.......

I'll still enjoy the race of course, and I have no idea what the headline means beyond Ferdie beating Von Cobblers..but, but, just AARRRRRRRRGGHHHHHH FUUUCK!!!
Normally I would have taken the night off for it, but I am having 2 days for Bournemouth, and we're very short manned (like 2 of us vs the whole UK last night), so I figured I better not take the piss and that NO were marginally better (and possibly louder) than F1.
I HATE missing live sessions!!!! this is about the fourth one that's been shown live that I've missed in about 5 years.
The REALLY annoying thing is....it's me bro's birthday so it would be downright rude to crucify the cunt. Mind you he'd hardly notice....the wee shite, even when not blitzed, could sleep through the four horsemen of the apocalypse doing dressage on his head.
