Bass Guitar advice

unless she has HUGE hands, I would counsel against getting the encore, or indeed any Fender clone. Arias Yamahas and Westones come to mind as being thin necked and easier to play.

I have let a young lady or two play with mine ( oooooer), and when I had Fender-esques, their hands couldn't reach the bottom strings anywhere beyond about the 12th fret.

You'll get a much better bass 2nd hand. Take a look on ebay.

Tokais and tanglewoods are often quite light too.

Actually, once October is over and done with, I have 3 things on my wishlist...

A new mixer ( my folio 12:2 is SERIOUSLY worn out) A control surface for my PC to help put a bit of liveness back into my tunes. And a new bass. I might actually, if permitted to leave the pub long enough, pop round to The Bass Centre in London while I'm there for a good perv over wat's about, it's been a LONG time since I had a clatter on a bunch of basses I can't afford. Then I'll buy one off Ebay :D Once the new one's been settled in, I'm taking the pliers to the Aria and making meself a backstreet fretless, been ages since I played a fretless, and ironically enough it was a fretless Shergold.

only a few quid more than that horrific encore, active circuitry, not too heavy, slender neck, and a design that's pretty slick, and important factor for a young lady.

EDIT: OR...if you want one that WONT cause your daughter to roam the streets at 4am looking for an all night shop to buy a 9V battery, cos the feckin active's died and there's no bypass...... Passives

Get the Yamaha RBX 170 - cheaper than the Argos package, same build as the BB series that Hooky used on so many records (and live until the Eccleshalls) but at an affordable price. And it looks nice.
