So what do you think of the halloween tradition of trick or treating? Harmless fun or another form of begging? I go for the latter.

I know for a fact that several old ladies living on some of our estates are dreading tonight and are planning on sitting with the lights out to avoid being 'tricked' for not answering the door.

Did anybody see the trick or treaters in Yates' before the Wolves gig? Two girls whose only effort was to buy a mask. If you want money, at least push the boat out a bit!

Not that anyone wouldn't believe this kind of behaviour of Liam, but this did indeed happen.

And if you'd seen the trick or treat kids, you'd have told them to fuck off too!!

do people try and trick or treat all friggin week?

and we don't trick or treat here btw--7 or 8 years old at the latest. I think it's one of those stereotypes like everyone has a perfect Norman Rockwell thanksgiving etc etc

Shitey American tradition.

The greedy fcukers are never happy with what you give them either.

Only thing worse than a beggar is a part-time beggar in a costume.

i entirely disagree. dressing up as pippi longstocking and the razor-in-the-apples scare and all.

damn fine film, as well. just finished watching it about an hour ago. i'm now on halloween II and it's all going downhill from here.

Fookin' kids round here get their parents out with them to Trick or Treat. They just knocked next door, heard the parent demand, I kid you not, demand more money for her kids. She said "there's three of them, they all get some". What is the world coming to?

We're not in by the way, doorknockers.

they ask for money in the UK? that's bold! i wish i had known that when i lived over there but i never did. shame.... :evil4:

but seriously, like chrissy said, halloween trick-or-treating is a bunch of kids (i did it until i was 12 or so--went as tammy faye bakker my final year, i think) going from house to house (if the porch light is on, that is) collecting chocolate and sweets and sometimes fruit from people. you wouldn't dare ask for money!

it isn't big here. no kids came round last night. a few have come in years past.

Had our third annual Halloween party Saturday night for adults only. Great time. Lots of food, drink, and dancing. I went as...

FGS

Love the holiday. Tonight the kids get their fun.

But asking for money? We had people pitch in - that's about it.

Would you go near DRACULA's CASTLE?

i wouldn't give no kid money. that IS begging. throw the scamps some candy and be done with it. you fucking brits nicely misinterpreted the whole point, which is to rot your teeth...then again, you might already have rotten teeth, so money it is then.

razors in apples is fucking ace.. when I become old and crazy I'm going to do that!

One year growing up (in Kindergarten to be exact) I was in a what one call a "not nice" neighborhood. It's basically been burnt out since then. Anyway, there was a poisoning scare at the Rite Aid in our neighborhood and I remember that we were all in Kinnygaren for a costume party, and the class moms had all bought their candy at Rite Aid, and they were throwing the candy out and stomping on it and stuff...

The kind of stuff that's a nitemare to 5 year olds. It's normally the first Halloween they realise they just have to be cute and people will give them candy!!! Everyone was crying... I think they went to another shop.. but I can't remember that much.

I also remember taking our pillow cases to McDonalds to put them through the metal detector to make sure there were no razors. Good lulz

My costumes as a kid always sucked, the whole plastic-mask-and-irritating-rubber-band, and god knows what the "costume" part of it was made of, every year. I think one year I was He-Man (the gayest costume ever). But the Sweet Tarts more than made up for it :evil4:

Halloween's on a Tuesday this year...a Tuesday! Nothing scary about Tuesdays (but plenty scary stuff about the band Til Tuesday). Hard to get excited about it, about the only thing scary anymore is tomorrow means the beginning of November and the slow build to the hell that is the holiday shopping season :nervous:

I would go as Max Fischer to any Halloween party though (that would be fun).

It's also an excuse for Sci-Fi to run endless shitty horror movies...which how it differs from their usual programming choices, you got me. All I know is, they're hyping it like it's a big deal

Don't like it much at all. Luckily I'm in bed by 7 p.m tonight, so I don't have to deal with it at all........I just wish it was gonna be pissing down rain rather than the sub-freezing temperatures here.

Quite honestly, I like this Halloween tradition. The kids are very sweet and polite, and they don't seem to be brats.

And we only give sugar candy in our neighborhood, not money and certainly not apples...

I think the kids enjoy the camaraderie of the experience, and adults, like me, enjoy spending time joking around with the kids. I especially love the joy of the small kids who are new to trick or treating. It's a great experience for all.

Got some egg chucked at our window because i anawered the door too late.

Later on watched The Blair Witch project again which scared the willies out of Maya when they find the house at the end. Then watched that programme about ghosts on the London underground. There is a photo some woman took once and when it was developed there is an image of a guy in the electric chair in the window .London Undergorund reckon they have no record of ever having a poster on the tube walls or on the trains of that image.

In Germany Halloween is a bit different. Yes we used to dress up, but we used to go round with one of those paper lanterns with a candle inside going door to door singing traditional songs for the season and get sweets.

Waited patiently with the pressure washer but didn't get to use it.

The only two kids who came up the drive were it has to be said quite polite.

What the fuck is Mischief Night all about 'an all? Give them Bommy Night and Halloween to cause chaos and now they get a third night. However for once it was quite amusing to see ten or so hoodies all lined up in Walton Vale while the bizzies took their details down and "escorted" them to their abodes. For once the Police got it right.

i like halloween its just a bit of fun,as for being a tacky american tradition? nah. only us brits could fuckin whine about giving kids toffees, mind you it is a bit of a cheek when the little buggers turn up with a pumpkin and ask "penny for the lantern",i kid you not.

Don't mind giving to some on the night, but it usually starts over a week ahead."Penny for the Guy" starts the month before.Come to think of it,where I used to live in Crumpsall, they were setting fires all year long...ahem.

Best one was a couple of years ago, group of tricksters come to my door, gave them a couple of quid between them, and I'm just shutting the door....and this foot blocks the door open. This teenage girl.

"I'm not with them!" "Ah you'll have to walk around with them then" "What about me money?" To which I replied "Get a pissing paper round"
