My iPod Nano Just Froze

I can't even turn it off. Gave it a good whack, but it's not working. Just got this a couple of months ago too... :(

FFS, you silly sod, reset it. Remove the battery for 10 seconds, and if you cannot remove the battery, put a bit of paper between the battery and the contact in the device.

IT'S A SOFTWARE ERROR, IF IT IS STILL RUNNING, IF YOU TAKE IT BACK TO A SHOP THEY WILL DO EXACTLY WHAT I TOLD YOU TO DO AND CHARGE YOU $50 FOR IT.

OK, for some reason, iTunes won't recognize the iPod being plugged in, and My Computer won't recognize it either... Btw, thanks for sticking up for me, Comrade. :D

But I think Cambo is right -- you'd be insane to take it to a shop if you don't do self-help first.

You do know how to reboot it right?

Hold down the menu and the center button for about 30 seconds. That should do it.

It's not reading it's input ports but, so diconnecting the battery may be the only way. I dunno how hard the battery is to access, don;t ipods need a service engineer to change the battery? BUt even if you cannot get the battery out, simply breaking the circuit with a slip of paper will do it (I MEAN paper, use tinfoil and you'll fuck yer Ipod, your battery AND your hand.)

Course I get rowdy with Cozzie, she's only gonna get smart by acting smart, she's clearly intelligent, and equally clearly needs to learn to stop doing everything the "right" way.

EDIT: there IS hope for her, her first attempt at repair was using percussive maintenance....ie beating fuck out of it.

OK. I'm suffering insomnia as usual on the weekends. I'm happy to say that resetting the iPod, as given by Cambo, EdelBrock, and Elegia, solved the problem. Thank you so much, guys.For some strange reason, I couldn't find the manual... I have always kept my manuals of the electronics I buy. I will find it later.

DONT take it apart. just hold down the center and menu buttons at the same time until the apple appears on the screen. this has happened to me a few times now. Good luck! I hope this helps.

She already sorted it (do pay attention 007!) My point was that one learns by disection, and electronics are a lot more tasteful, not to mention legal, than pets

OK, even I'm not dumb enough to field strip an ipod that's under warrantee if it can be fixed from the front panel, but the first time it gets arsey when that warrantee runs out, the first time it failed properly...I'd be in there like a shot.

i hate anything apple/macintosh makes. even when i was in 1st grade, i despised macintosh.

the ipod is a good example. it always freezes up...the bomb face...i think they're the toughest computers to work on and have so many more hardware issues than any other computer made out there.
