seem to be on the ball when it comes to up & coming bands(...those Arctic Monkeys will be massive!),yet soon as they leave Uni and get a job as a bank manager or solicitor they start driving round in bmw's listening to Phil Collins,Annie Lennox and James Blunt?

Can someone shed some light on this for me?

Hoi, fcuk off Steve! :nono:

Left uni last year and I'm doing no such thing.

Track of the week in the car at the moment is Leftfield's "Afrika Shox"

You did well to make it to your mid 90's Ron.. Most people get forgetful before they hit 80.

Afrika Shox is ****ing good choice mate and a pity Barnes and Daley aren't colaborating anymore. A Leftfield remix of NO would have been interesting too. Cheers!:thumb:

I only know one bank manager. He's called Mark, he pretends that he's 18, and he spends all his money following New Order around. And all my students like crap heavy metal and emu.

I think it's a question of rebelling against the parental unit, your parents probably listened to shitloads of awful bands or artists like Collins, The Eagles, etc., so when you get to college the first thing you latch onto are acts that are the polar opposite of that.

But when you get out and you've been on your own for a while, it's almost like comfort food to howl along to "Hotel California" or try foolishly to decipher the meaning of "Susudio". That, or they give you a frontal lobotamy on the way out of graduation and you're reduced to a driveling fool who actually thinks that crap is good :evil4:

And for the record, I thought this thread would be about teachers sleeping with students :nervous:

To which I was going to opine "some people learn best from books, others by example" :evil4:  :nonono:

I'm a student and I've never been interested in newer bands or whatever's popular in the media... Maybe it's just some students that are like the ones you described.

Lets face it, leather girl. You've never been 'archetypal'.
