RIP Robert Altman

Dead today, age 81.

I didn't care for most of his films, but he was a legend.

sorry to hear that he made some top flicks.

he certainly wasn't a prolific filmmaker, but most of the films he did make made such an impression on me: especially MASH, nashville and the player. MASH was extremely special and had one of the greatest theme songs (written by altman's son, mike) of all time.

A legendary film-maker with a great humanity. MASH the movie will always be one of my favorites. RIP Bob

RIP Robert. Some great stuff, along with some that weren't so hot. Weird props, of sorts, for making a bewildering movie of the funniest story I've ever read "The Utterly Monstrous, Mind-Roasting Summer of O. C. and Stiggs" from the National Lampoon. Hey, at least you got King Sunny Ade in it though

Watched "MASH" for the first time in a long time tonight, I'd forgotten what a great film it is. I remember how much of it was shocking to me when I first watched (being familiar only with the TV show, which had its moments to be fair).

As he was so fond of saying in interviews, "the only ending I know of is death".

Personal fave: 3 Women.
