OK.. Apologies to Aussies for the thread title, but its that time again when our two respective cricket teams slog it out for the next three months for this pathetic little trophy.

Who's gonna win? Does anyone care? Do we have any barmy army attendees out there? Your views please....

That'll be your teutonic roots, Ron.

I imagine that the Aussies will be particularly welcoming to our new English cricketing superstar, Monty Panesar.

I really DREAD to think what will be said on the field to him

Definitely Australia!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Currently it's a four for all (20 off 14 balls!)

Oh no - just missed out on a four. England's bowling is a little rusty it seems.

Currently Australia is 31/0 and there have been 10 field changes already.

Hmm I think that the Aussie's will take this one convincingly - although I'd like to be proved wrong

Whilst I would love England to win again, I think the Ashes will go to the home team.

Come on England anyway!

:(

Oz will batter us i'm afraid.

346 for 3 at stumps on day one. its going to be a long hot summer for the lads.

but its Harmison's form that will be key to the series. and he was useless today.

Ashley Giles? - jesus christ!!:nonono:

They batter everybody I'm afraid, there's no shame in it! Not a good toss to lose though. Day 1 should be all about the pacemen not the spinner, but they were all over the show. On a good batting deck your only chance as a bowler is line and length and if your "strike" bowler trundles the first ball so wide it goes to second slip, well...

If you know Giles is never going to bowl a team out in their 2nd innings why pick him??? Pietersen ended up bowling 9 overs ffs!

Oz by an innings methinks :\ohwell:

oi oi!

Everyone chill out a bit purleasseee...

ok.. we did shite..

BUT it might be a good batting pitch..

AND.. if we lose the test, then remember we lost the first one in the last series and everyone was saying the same then..

One down, on to Adelaide for another thrashing??

I have to say though, that England's second inning was better - they are underdone though.

there second innings was better, but when their first innings was complete crap, anything can be relayed to as "better".
