No. I didn't buy any newly recorded albums either this year. Just a lot of shitty music being made or I just can't find anything that has more than 3 good songs on it.

Most of the stuff I bought this year was old, or reissues. Hmmm...this really was a crap year for music, wasn't it?

Those are the only 2006 albums I own (B&S doesn't have a bad track at all, AM is hit-or-miss) 
Actually, the only recent things I got were the new Ladytron and Goldfrapp, but I don't know if either of them actually came out this year (I don't think so).

I own 6 out of your top 10 Dave and they are all very good. I bought so much new music this year, I'll have to scroll through my ipod and pick some out but for now

Empire by Kasabian is quite good, while Howling Bells debut album is sound as well
The only other new albums i got this year were Fundamental by PSB (which is alright) and LEF by Ferry Corsten (which was also alright).

Primal Scream: Riot City Blues The Who: Endless Wire Kasabian: Empire
Of these 3 Riot City Blues is my favourite, not really had chance to listen to The Who or Kasabian yet, but have made a mental note to listen to Kasabian prior to their gig at the MEn.
I forgot to mention that I also bought Pearl jam - Pearl jam on the strength that it had a really nice cover to it. Its quite goddm usically as well.
No longer being in the music selling biz has limited my ability to find the interesting cool stuff-about my only regret from it-

same here save a few compilations.
Funily enough there are lots of exciting new live bands around like Pigeon Detectives The Macabees Sunshine Underground Switches The View (if you're gonna see the Primals on tour at the mo, make sure you catch these guys supporting)
They just haven't delivered great albums yet. So I've probably got heaps of singles I was excited about but not that many albums.
The ones that spring to mind:
1)MSTRKRFT "The Looks". Great canadian techno duo (tech house?) ... with Jesse from the now defunct Death From Above 1979.
Primal Scream: Riot City Blues. Not their best LP but still great after a hard week, with the volume up, and some beers down your neck.
Hot Chip: The Warning. Not perfect but they plough their own little electro furrow and I respect that!

wasn't the beirut album first released last year though? keep seeing records being reviewed that have been out for months
not done this years list yet, but glad to see there are some people on here that realise there are still bands out the making music worth listening to

Stereolab, Jeremy Enigk, Bonnie "Prince" Billy, Neko Case are the most played, can't quite recall what all was released this year.
Didn't listen to many new albums this year.Delays ,Flaming Lips (which i never got into really) and Pet Shop Boys are the only ones that spring to mind.Delays' album wasn't as good as their fist IMO.Still may check out The Rapture's album if i get round to it.Liked the first single of that.The one with the video in the rollerskating arena

ANCE!I cant remember anything from this year thats stood out that much? Been a lot of good songs (Shoot The Runner,Cellphones Dead) but no full albums for me. Hopefully next year with the return of Radiohead and a few others things will buck up a little.

1. Jeff Mills - Blue Potential - A pefect cross over between Detroit's Techno wizzard and Montpeillier's Synphony orchestra! 2. Hybrid - I Choose Noise - Glad I just got into them and this is excellent breakbeat/electronica made even better with their Hooky connection! 3. Coldcut - Sound Mirrors - Been around a long time but still know how to rock More Beats and Pieces! 4. Primal Scream - Riot City Blues - Despite being a big disappointment after XTMTR and Evil Heat and more of a retrograde step than Give Up But Don't Give Out!
Would like to get around to the PSB and A Guy Called Gerrald albums - maybe in 2007 when Xmas is over Cheers!
