Daft sci-fi blockbuster in which large proportions of the human race come to believe that the computer generated world is reality. And even those who know the truth come to believe that computer-generated reality is better than the real thing.
As if.
I remember when all the geeks around me proclaimed it "the Star Wars for our generation"

my hindu friend nilam uses the matrix to explain hinduism, and after we had a discussion about it it made a lot of sense and i started using it in my world religions class. it is really close to hindu belief. moksha would be something like what neo saw once he was freed from the matrix--freedom from false reality and ultimate control over oneself and from oneself. those who realise they must become enlightened understand they are living in a 'matrix' and must escape, and those who are ignorant of enlightenment remain trapped in this world of false reality.

Yeah they really screwed the pooch on a what could have been a great trilogy.
I agree with much of what everyone says about the Matrix triogly. The first film was excellent and it also has some personal sentiment for me as a scene where Neo is running down the hill to the subway station was filmed on a street in Sydney - near the Sydney police HQ in the Kings Cross area, where I was staying. The second film was where the rot set in but it was reasonably entertaining and not quite the f***ed up b******'s the third becomes which by the end makes you think WTF was all that about. The only sequel that has bettered the original IMO is Aliens and I'd rate the Matrix trilogy 9 out of 10 for Matrix, 6 out of 10 for Matrix Reloaded and 2 out of 10 for Matrix Revolutions. Cheers!

yeh you can see loads of Sydney in the first matrix, even the harbour bridge.
as far a sequels go T2 is far better than the terminator.

Hi NOOLigan another notable Sydney landmark which features in the scene where Morpheus freezes time in the first film is the area around the Queen Victoria Building. BTW did the bridge climb on the Sydney Harbour bridge and that's the best cure for heights you could ever have. Cheers!
toy story 2 & the godfather 2 are also superior sequels.
anyway, given that without the matrix to make they'd never have gotten round to filming bound i'm glad it was done.
After looking at this thread for a long time, I have to say that The Matrix should not be a trilogy.
Let's not forget Empire Strikes Back as one of the best sequels, btw.

Empire Strikes back is not always counted as a sequel as the three films were originally in one script
