Well, for me it's probably another contraversial one (last year's was WeBelongTogether-MCarey):
U and UR Hand Tonight - Pink.
What's yours?

Everyone likes a Promiscuous Girl..
Fergielicious - Fergie ![]()
No, actually the list is as follows -
Crazy - Gnarls Barkley Funny Little Frog - Belle and Sebastian Your Heart is An Empty Room - DCFC (technically an '05 song, but I don't care because it's that good) Ain't No Other Man - Christina Aguilara (I'm gonna get hell for that one, but it's insanely catchy) Here It Goes Again - OK Go (before it got annoying) When You Were Young - The Killers
Mine would include

I totally forgot about those DM singles. I thought they were all released in 2005.

Yes and no Blue Eyed Boy. They all featured on DM's Playing The Angel album which came out in 2005 but they weren't released as singles by Mute in the UK until 2006. That was the same for Mylo's Muscle Car single which was on his Destroy Rock And Roll album in 2004 but wasn't a single until January 2006. Cheers!![]()
I don't think 2006 has been fantastic for singles, too many Libertines-like clones dominating the charts pretending it's the 70s again. NME has turned into a rag which espouses dressing fashionably and "cool lists" as more important than coming out with a truly cracking piece of music.
The following stood out for me but I'd be hard pushed to choose an absolute favourite:
Editors - Munich (2006 Re-release - Cicada remix) Hot Chip - And I Was The Boy From School Hot Chip - Over And Over The Kooks - Ooh La (got on my tits due to over-exposure) Muse - Starlight Morrissey - The Youngest Was The Most Loved Pet Shop Boys - Minimal (good single/desperately sub-par album) Primal Scream - Country Girl (zero originality but a good tune)
Morrissey's 'Ganglord' deserves a mention as b-side of the year for me with PSB's 'The Resurrectionist' not far behind.
'Setting Sun'-Howling Bells 'Number 1'-Goldfrapp 'Minimal'-PSB 'Atlantis to Interzone'-Klaxons
and of course...

Sorry for being so anal, but this song is from 2005. Great tune though.
Writer's Block - Peter Bjorn and John When You Were Young - Killers All Good Things - Nelly Furtado

Was this released as a single this year?! Really? If so, that pisses all over the aforementioned!

OK.. I'll chuck in a vote for Over and Over as well, and add an honourable mention to this:

Nope, that's another single released last year.

Pretty sure it was. Last 12" vinyl I bought, think I got it the same time as the 12x12 releases.
From the official LCD Soundsystem site: "Tribulations" was released as a single on 26 September 2005.
