ok i was too slack to copy and paste this into my browser.
Not much of a 'debate' though is it? I know plenty of snooty musicians like 'yut' who think their word is gospel.
He is right in one thing, Hooky is not one of the best ever bassists. But that's not important. And New Order a 'disco band'? Not for me they're not. 
I read one page and walked away.
I liked.... "he's no pastorias" "yeah, yer right, he's no idiot"
presumably referring to the fact that Hooky is still ALIVE

As for Yut, he thinks Mr Hook looks like a Bee Gee 
and there's 57 other varieties of bollox that I just cant be arsed with to quote.
You've got to admit that this is pretty funny, mind:

Fact Hooky and Steve are a tighter rhythm section than any machine can pull off. That alone is reason enough to say he's good.
peter hook. the man single handedly reinvented bass playing in my opinion. you will find many musicians that could play him under the table technically,but dream up a line like aoc ect,do i have to go on,i think not. the man is a god and will be worshipped by his peers for generations to come. fact.
