U.S. needs a bigger military, Bush says

I think this is the best, most tactful way to approach the war on terrir when your approval rating is crashing out of the basement and more than half of your electorate says they are against the current "action" in Iraq and Afghanistan.

I think he should keep pushing this so that I can work on a Democratic Presidential campaign next year.

hahah oh man if campaigns' successes were based on the lack of sexual promiscuity of their staff and principals no one would win anything.

picture's not working for me but if it's a pic of me fat and brunette the answer is yes.. (though I'm about 2 and a half stone lighter than I was in August so I might have to look for new line of work soon)

Actually, the bigger military is not for sending more troops, but if we are to sustain the deployments we have now. Right now the guys are on 7 month deployments, then come home for 7 months. But in those 7 months home, they are training to go back, so that means field ops that take you away from home. So you're really "home" for maybe 4 months, but its hard to get aclimatized to normal life if you are ready to go right back into the fight.

Adding more troops, like another company of Marines to my battalion would ease this strain. Instead of 2 companies trading the deployments back and forth, the third would give the returning company more time off.

Personally, if deployments stay as they are, we NEED this badly.

One thought that does worry me is how is he plan on increasing numbers? I sure hope he doesn't plan on a stop-loss program. I plan on getting out in May, and me not being able to leave would put a damper on my future plans.

1. Step up recruiting; offer more incentives, lower standards, or a combination of the two.

2. Stop-loss.

3. The draft.

No popular way to do it, which means the war's ratings will continue to plummet...
