Was at a pub quiz last night and the impossible round was all "music from liverpool"--for some god unknown anglophiliac reason. The quiz master played The Smiths and Joy Division.
I was like "um they aren't from Liverpool" and was almost chucked out.

Geography isn't a well-taught subject anymore, I guess. 
About the only way I could see getting pissed about it is if someone thought I was from Mississippi, not South Carolina. Even Mississippians don't want to be from Mississippi

because it's already saying the audience is dumb before he gave them a chance to be dumb and I was part of the audience. I get offended when things are dumbed down for me.
It's like me telling people I'm from New York because there's not much chance they'd know where Philly is which is true...but not necessary. Give them the benefit of the doubt first

but florida is south of massachussetts.. if I'm trying to give someone a geography clue that's not what I would use.
