I have never seen one of em ride a motorbike?

Is it for a quick getaway after the game ?

If you spent 2 hours at a time repeatedly knocking heads with fat sweaty men, you'd probably do the same. Then again, you're a long-time New Order gig attendee, so surely it should've occurred to you? Why don't more Vikings wear helmets?

They wear helemts for the same reason they only play for 15 seconds at a time....they can't hack rugby.

It's because they're queer and the kit man misunderstood what they meant when they complained of "Not getting enough helmet."

Hope that explains everything.

Cheers

a serious answer: at the turn of the 20th century president roosevelt was concerned by how many people were dying of broken necks and head injuries while playing football (dozens every year), so he had a group of coaches from columbia, rutgers and princeton devise new rules and new gear. hence the helmets.

in rugby you can't hit someone directly in the head (or land on their head), i believe?

by the way, i'm not a football fan.

I'm not a rugby expert (I like Rugby League but I don't get to see much of it these days) but if I remember rightly tackling above shoulder height is against the rules. I think the most obvious difference between rugby and American Football is that in rugby you are only allowed to tackle a player who has the ball whilst in American Football you can tackle players who don't have the ball.

Because it's nice to have a helmet like this in a glass box at home.

You know, American football is a very slow sport. There are pauses in between the game :groan:

The only reason they have so many breaks in the game is so they get to show more adverts. The reason they have to wear helmets is so their eyeliner and lipstick does'nt get smudged.

Their idea of how to race cars is as bad. In a single season ( 99 or 2000) I seen a race get stuck behind a safety car because THREE drops of rain hit an onboard camera in a single lap.....cue adverts. And THEN, I saw a thunderstorm ( at cleveland airport circuit) which dumped the track under 4 inches of water causing large piles of cars to begin forming at 2 corners....without so much as a local yellow flag, I suppose the ads weren;t ready to roll.

As for daylight bombing.... dude, that's worse than the Engerlish banging on about '66 those 1000 plane raids were more than 60 years ago. These days it's the US who needs us, we have Tornadoes, they have nothing to match, AND RAF pilots go through this crazy innovative training program where they are taught the difference between enemy troops and allied troops, and have it instilled in them NOT to blow the latter to kingdom come. :evil4:

If you were watching NASCAR or IRL, rain is very dangerous. NASCAR (heavy cars on banked ovals) and IRL (hi G cars on banked ovals) use racing slicks. Rain + slicks + banked ovals = lots of bent machines.

You can make light of the tragedy of "blue on blue" attacks if you want....

As for the Tornado, it's a fine machine. As far as having no match, I think the MiG 29, Su 27, F-15, F-16, F-18, F-22 and F-35 might have something to say about that.
