The melodic catchy songs, dance/disco style, europop sound, and silly lyrics??? I think the boys and gillian may have dug the swedes a little.

I can see how they might have. I don't know a whole lot of ABBA tunes but from the ones I've heard I can see slight similarities in musical style.

There are 4 members in ABBA, there are 4 members in New Order, no coinc, why do you think they aksed Gillian to join?... Barney is sort of a Dancin' Queen also, so i think u are spot on... ABBA and New Order songs both have dance beats also, so u may b right that New Order ripped off ABBA

wasnt bernard recently quoted as saying that he fuckin hated abba?,his words not mine. now im not saying that this next lot influenced new order but again there are some frightening similarities. "hot chocolate".

You're right Mike it was on some Channel 4 Top 10/Top 100 show about 3-4 years ago with Hooky/Steve jokingly saying they liked 'em. Cheers!
