I love swimming in the sea but if I went to Australia, I think I'd prefer the pool. Have any of you swam off the coast of Oz? Do they have safe zones?

Swam of Bondi beach and Manly just outside Sydney, 2 years ago no problems went out a bit far on a couple of occasions and then the JAWS music kicks in and you tend to get back to the beach real quick but shark nets do protect the beaches.

Possibly they give off a more powerful scent or their paddling creates more vibrations, am sure there was some science behind it?

Have never heard of dogs attracting sharks. I've seen a fair few dogs swimming a the beaches I've been to.

I've heard rumors that dogs' frantic, splashing movements sound more like a wounded fish or seal, hence why they might attract sharks. Not sure if it's a proven fact, though.

Ive known 3 people who have died because of Shark attacks on Australian beaches.

Thats 3 people out of the guestimated 1 million people who swim our beaches every day.

So in all fairness to the sharks, and the effects of Global Warming pushing them closer to the coast , they have to eat something.

Its really your own fault for making the environment as fucked as it is. (if you do get eaten).

Sorry for being so brutally honest, but if youre really worried about swimming on the beaches here, then dont, but i still go out for a swim and a surf every week.

They've got these things in England called "Chavs" if you poke them in the eye they'll stab you, nick your mobile phone and still have the audacity to wear dark coloured shell suits.

Do you think they're as dangerous as sharks ?

PS you don't have to go swimming to meet them either.

Cheers
