SNOW BOARDER OR SKIER???

I woke up this morning to a blanket white winter view out of the kitchen window.. A sight I would have been happier seeing last week when I was in Switzerland skiing... sadly all we saw there was a little rain...

Well you know what it's like when your brother is a qualified ski instructor and he doesn't give you any free lessons.....

I got back from Switzerland on Sunday. I was out visiting my brother & his girlfriend who are in Klosters for three weeks whilst she reps/guides for the Ski Club of Great Britain.

Looking about on the slopes there seemed to be a lot of boarders out there these days... are skiers a dying breed..

Any of you lot ski or board and where do you go to find decent snow these days.... well the kind you could ski on...

I hear its secretly every girls dream to ski...

More of a bobsledding with an Asda shopping trolley at 2:30 am,while pissed up person myself.

I ski, motherfuckers. Though not now living in California where everyone seems to be an asshole and they can't even handle a little rain.

I fookin' hate the snow. I fookin' hate the cold.

I've never done either, but I intend to change that next Christmas. I would like to try skiing first.

I have done skating and ice skating so I think I should be able to take to skiing ok.

I want to go for the scenery more than anything, beautiful.

I've snowboarded once, kept wrecking. Skied once or twice, kept wrecking on Big Mountain. Was still a blast!

what's wrecking??

i try and avoid the snow, but am a passable skier. i have never snowboarded nor do i plan to.

Wrecking is crashing, falling, biting the big one etc.

I ski, but I didn't do it so far this season.

I'm a bit of a lazy skier... if it's not perfect conditions I would prefer to give it a miss... Probably because I'm an average skier and to improve takes alot of effort and lazy people aint into effort...

Managed nearly 3 weeks skiing over Xmas and New Year in Thollon Les Miemes ( small resort & cheap to ski, over looks Lake Geneva - French side)and then in Tignes and Val'desere. Loads of snow.Boarders are a pain in the arse but looks fun so will try this year. Missy Jem you'd love it if you can skate you shouldn't have to many problems its all about confidence and the scenery well...FANTASTIC.

I learned how to ski on the dry slope at Gloucester, but 13 knee operations sort of put paid to any plans to strut my stuff on the piste!

It looks like they're building a dry ski slope near the Trafford Centre, I will definitely go and practice if they do.

I used to love roller skating when I was younger and would definitely do it now if they did it somewhere nearby. Great exercise.

My mate in Manchester recones its a snow dome being built? which is even better and if you need any lessons!

It doesn't look very dome shaped to me! Either way I'll be keeping my eye on it and will be going when it opens.

I prefer the apres-ski; its far less painful when you fall over. :)

Ski, when I go, which isn't that often: (read: not in the last 7 years).

Will it end up like the Ice Rink at Altrincham where the young gentlemen of Hulme and Stretford came to come and tax your gear when you were kids.
