OK, they have a couple of good songs (the first album was 30% good and a waste of money IMHO, 'WhenWeWereYoung' is OKish but very EMO... 'Bones' is a bit ropey), but the perpetual glory wanking over their suppoused immense and eternal greatness is pissing me off somewhat!
Does anyone actually like The Killers?

They are overrated pap!
I think someone in zeigeist central confused the band names 'muse' with 'the killers' when preparing a very important memo...
i do, the hot fuss was a great album. Nowadays enjoy listening to the sam's town album...read my mind is a good tune! ![]()
sam's town has 3 good songs, black holes and revelations is 100% genius.
yes i like the killers but it is obvious they have limitations, i like interpol to.
"post punk" is the style and even though it feels warmed over i will continue to support.

Indeed. It worries me slightly that New Order buy into this hype!

They actually seemed to take that Godlike Moneymaking Award seriously, didn't they?
Their first album is pretty good, but just dumb pop fluff. I stayed away from it for a long time because of all the New Order comparisons, but it's a fun album. From what little I've heard of their second album, it's complete ass.

Same here--I remember a TV interview with NO in 2005 in which Bernard said that the Killers were his favourite band at the moment. *facepalm* I outgrew their music a while back, and after Stephen's referring to "new New Orders" (probably the Killers) in the interview back in November, I like them even less. But I think I've mentioned that here.
Their first album was a lot of fun and I liked it, but then they changed their sound and went Springsteen...crap. They should stick to what they do best.
They have a few good songs and could potentially break out with something exceptional someday as they mature as a group. I wouldn't say they stink, I wouldn't say they're outstanding either.
The Killers are probably the most hilarious [rock/pop] band in the charts right now. Just look at the state of them.
And all their singles are so bloody overproduced and pompous sounding. They probably want to be like U2 or summat, but then again they have some sort of identity crisis because the foghorn singer also wants to be like Robert Smith at times as well as Bruce Springsteen and Bono.... plus, they have lyrics which are even worse than New Order's.![]()
So to sum up, they are indeed an easy target for ridicule. Nobody told them to grow such ridiculous moustaches.

that's the bit i hate. rest of the song is ok though. imagine being chased down the street, by a bunch of 'esses in white vicar's clobber, screeching I got Soul blah blah. fuck that!!
Not a big fan though I like their cover version of Morrissey's "Why Don't You Find Out For Yourself"
I was in the campus bookstore and saw an actual book about the Killers. This band has been around all of two, maybe three years...and there's a biography of them? ![]()
Officially count me out as a potential Killers fan, that's just too much ![]()
First album, I liked "Jenny Was A Friend of Mine", "Mr. Brightside", "Somebody Told Me" & "Midnight Show"
Seconds album: "When You Were Young"
That's it..
The definition of a one-trick pony.
