In a couple of weeks dodgy-toothed, chain-smoking one-time enfant terrible of the British literary scene Martin Amis* is moving into an office just a few door down from me.

Following on from LJ's tenuous link to the famous & talented in another thread, has anyone else worked alongside a pseudo-celebrity or their friends, lovers and/or relatives???

Erm.... years and years back when my dad was a social worker he had a case that Dr. Harold Shipman was involved with.

Dad said from what he could remember he was a 'bit of a bastard' then added but then a lot of the G.P.s were, so there was nothing odd or suspicious about him.

This is just one of the many reasons I don't pay attention to my dad's opinion of any of my potential suitors.

Steve, the brother of Bunnymen guitarist Will Sargent.

And someone told me that Ex Luton player Enoch Showunmi's Dad works in my company. Apparently he would be King of his village if he returned to Nigeria, but I guess Metronet pay better

Wilf Mannion ex-Boro(we have statues of him here now he's dead) worked in ICI with the old fella,and Wilf's grandson once nicked my bird when I were a youngster,and he duly turned out to be an arse in later life..

But the old -timers say Mannion was better than Juninho Not forgeting Juninho was a blinding player for Boro,until he broke his leg and lost a yard..

If being a member of a second-tier industrial band counts as fame, I'm the celebrity at my company. :D

One of Justin Timberlake's security guards from his tour back in 2003 came to my old work place in Philly then to get some ice cream because JT was doing an after concert show at the small venue up the street. JT didn't show up, though.

I don't work with him, but the editor of the McSweeneys website was my creative writing teacher last semester

Worked as Tony Wilson's assistant for one day - not a good experience - although amusing to look back on!

I once worked with a guy called Phil Gayle who after leaving our office went to read the news on Big Breakfast when Chris Evans did it.

I used to work with a girl who was a part time actress, she was in the Parole Officer with steve coogan.

My direct boss is that woman who was on the telly yesterday telling people that you won't die from eating turkey. She didn't say that you might die from eating infected turkey poo though!

We tend not to have famous people here, a few government ministers here and there and scientists, but nobody likely to be appealing to tabloid culture.

Fat chance! Mr Amis will swan around campus for a couple of hours every two weeks and then vanish back to London to count his £60 grand salary!!
