Has anyone else seen this film? I really like it, but it's really long. It's about 3 hours or so. What does everyone else think of it?

Overacted with a script that was going for a best picture oscar.

And no Shawshank.

But the book is far better.

I had a restful night's sleep in the middle of it only to wake up and find it was still going.

I went to see it in the cinema and I walked out.

It seemed like it was trying to be another shawshank. I liked it up until the end, where it fell flat. Could have been so much more had spielberg not try so hard to make it an oscar winner.

Frank Darabont, not Speilberg.

The books are always better. One of the best Stephen King books I saw relayed to the screen was The Stand. Most of the actors portrayed the characters in the book perfectly.

Braindead neo-racist CACK. Its one redeeming feature is that it allows straight white fellas to indulge their fantasies about being WANKED OFF BY A HUGE BLACK LAD.

All prison movies are for closet gayers, NATCH!

That's because it was a mini-serie.... so they had time to develop the script.

Just like Harry Potters movie... do that in a mini-serie, it would be a lot better than the movie, though they actually did a pretty good job on those.

Plus... if you already read the book, watching the movie will never meet your expectations.. it's obvious since you know the story.

Shawshank Redemption was based on a short story, so that was different.

Did you Know Martin Scorsese was executive writer, producer and director, fronted in the credits as... Robert Keitel.
