Does anyone else watch adult swim? It's on Bravo pretty late. A load of bizaarre cartoons. :)

In the States Adult Swim is on the Cartoon Network current staple shows... Futurama Family Guy Aqua Teen Hunger Force Robot Chicken Dethklock Assy McGee Boondocks (not lately thou but really good) Moral Orel Squidbillies Harvey Birdman plus Anime shows that are on too late for me cause i have to get some sleep for weekdays

some past past shows... Spaceghost SeaLab 2021 Minoriteam (i liked it maybe i was the only one) others i forget

In the UK they show pretty much the same although there are a few I haven't heard of. My favourite ones are 12 oz mouse, squidbillies, Sealab 2021, the venture bros, minorateam and dethklock.

Bravo shows most of the Adult Swim comedy shows in the UK, most of which I recommend to the uninitiated:

Metalocalypse - you don't have to be into metal (i'm not) to laugh at this, plus it's plenty gory and just over the top weird

Minoriteam - never cared for this one, racialism makes me yawn

Frisky Dingo - new show from the makers of Sealab, not as funny as Sealab, but it has its moments

Aqua Teen Hunger Force - used to hate it, but it grows on you. absurd, yes. stupid, yes. funny, oh yeah.

Brak Show - spin-off from Space Ghost and the short-lived Cartoon Planet, pretty funny.

Harvey Birdman - Hanna-Barbera cartoon characters go to court. Hilarious!

Moral Orel - claymation show about a super-Christian kid's many hilarious misinterpretations of scripture.

Perfect Hair Forever - mostly stupid and unfunny send-up of anime shows.

Robot Chicken - usually funny claymation spoofs of pop culture and other random sophomoric humor.

Sealab 2021 - watched the first 2 seasons religiously, very funny, but later seasons got stupid really fast.

Space Ghost Coast to Coast - still the best. later seasons had better writing and are completely funny. 1960's cartoon superhero interviews celebrities.

Squidbillies - hilarious show about redneck squids in the Deep South.

Stroker & Hoop - mildly funny cop-show spoof.

Tom Goes to the Mayor - used to hate it, but now absolutely love it. Tom is optimistic entrepreneur thrusting himself into small-town politics run by idiotic mayor. Convoluted plot takes place, leaves Tom in soul-crushing misery and despair by the end. Hilarious and depressing in equal measure.

12 oz. Mouse - absolute idiocy. avoid at all costs.

Venture Bros. - pretty funny spoof of Johnny Quest.

Metalocalypse, I tried to watch once or twice (it's by the same guy behind "Home Movies"), but it just didn't do anything for me. Squidbillies could very well be the worst thing I've ever seen on TV (except for the Jesus/phallus episode...you'd have to see it to understand what I'm talking about). Stroker and Hoop just seemed like a crass attempt to cash in on the brief hype around Stiller and Wilson as "Starsky and Hutch", and 12 Oz. Mouse looks like a five-year old draws it.

That's the bad...the good is

Aqua Teens (though I'm tempted to suggest avoid this season, the older shows are classic)

Futurama (I know it was a Fox show originally, but after Family Guy has worn out its welcome you can't go wrong with Fry, Leela, et al. Hooray for Zoidberg!)

Robot Chicken (I take back every bad thing I ever said about Seth Green, if only because of the Optimus Prime/Testicular cancer skit and the marathon race with Burt Reynolds, Dukes of Hazzard, et al).

Brak Show, Space Ghost, Harvey Birdman (Phil Ken Sebben is hilarious), Mission Hill (this one grew on me, then they stopped showing it), Sealab 2021...I could go on

Spot on analysis of the AS shows by the Pope, though I was drawn to the absurdity of the Aqua Teens from the start, and I also agree that Space Ghost is the best.

Different voices/characters are what kinda ruined a couple of other faves of mine: the death of Harry Goz (the voice of Murphy at the beginning of Sealab 2021 was big), Goz just had that perfect voice that I found interesting.

Also don't care much for the British mom who replaced the American mom on the Brak Show; even the ridiculousness of most of the plots couldn't make her an interesting character. Also, why wasn't the series ending New Year's Eve party, which had other Adult Swim characters in it, on the second DVD? Dammit, I had to go download the thing elsewhere.

I trace the "downfall" of Adult Swim (because I really think their quality has declined over the past couple of years) to an article in Entertainment Weekly which took them from being this cool thing that you stumbled across late at night when you couldn't sleep, to something that everyone (or at least everyone that I ran into) was suddenly "in" to. It was a bit like a favorite band of yours that isn't so hot nationally suddenly becoming the next big thing, it took the fun out of it. Plus, I think the creative minds behind the network started to believe their own hype. "Squidbillies" to me is the absolute kiss-of-death as far as AS is concerned, they might get more mileage out of the Beantown incident but it's never going to be as good as it was pre-Squidbillies

And it's a tie between Aqua Teens and Space Ghost as far as my favorite AS show goes (though I have to say, Harvey Birdman is a real contender)

I don't know. Squidbillies strikes me as one of the most consistently funny new shows they have on now. Along with Tom, it's probably the best of the new crop. Maybe it cuts a bit too close to the bone for Southerners? :p It takes a few episodes to get into, but it's damn funny.

I agree with you about Tom (though I don't think they're doing new episodes of that anymore). Something very dark and nasty about it, but it's damn funny (Bob Odenkirk was involved with it, and there's a ton of "Mr. Show" alum who did appearances on that show). My favorite has to be the WWII-themed restaurant, or the dog-marriage day
