Got a phone call at half six this morning telling me not to bother today, and that it will snow again, which it is now.
Is the rest of the country paralysed or is my boss overcautious?

Its probably a bit more than that here on the outskirts to be fair. Its nothing like the falls we got in the late eighties though

And looking out the window it is coming down pretty heavily right now, so mebbe it is a correct decision.

Where do you live? Bird I work with has just come in from Suffolk, although one lad has cried off from Northampton.
Schools all closed here.
Got close to the Airport.......bad accident....M42 clagged up...............turned around and came home.
It's coming down quite heavy again now....yipppeee!

Typical GMTV over-sensationalisation. This morning they cut to a shot of a road somewhere, with a little bit of snow on the verges. Up pops John Stapleton with his best serious face on to tell us that he's sure "those drivers are having to drive slower than they normally would"

He did have to order me not to work btw. And besides he told all my support staff not to come in either.
Problem is all the forklifts are stranded in our yard in Herts, so loading vans today would have taken ages, let alone driving across London.
I'm always game for driving in the snow; I remember last time London got snow. Was a curious combination of women driving 10 mph and getting no traction, and mad Africans still going over the speed limit and spinning everywhere on the Old Kent Road.
Well I made it in to Central London, there's about 3 inches of snow in Medway, still snowing though so may turn round and go home at lunchtime to beat the inevitable delays later.

Nah, in fairness, there is a good three inches of snow in Lahndon today. And then some.
Looked luvverly when I woke up this morning.
It'll all be brown slush by the time I get home tonight. :(
You think we'd get more up in Scotland but no such luck 
just a light covering and really low temps. The country roads are like ice rinks but the main roads are relatively clear.
Not to say we haven't had any snow but just not enough to justify a skive.
I'm gutted 
How come the news are saying its the worst weather for a decade? I seem to remember the north of england getting worse in Jan '04.

I was in Sweden this weekend just gone.
It fcuking rained and was miserable all around. 
We've not even got Rain. Dry as a fucking Bone in Manchester. Very disappointing. I was looking forward to slipping repeatedly and being freezing cold in work today. Alas, its not to be. 
Had a student email me this morning to say she couldn't make it to the seminar today cos she was snowed in.
She lives in Stockport.
Well, given the fact that I watch the Weather Forecast, decided to travel home from Telford yesterday (by train)... Good job, because services out of Wolverhampton to Euston look completely fcuked...
Working from home today (and tomorrow) - good thing about writng documents is that I can work anywhere I want to (assuming Internet and VPN is working)!
To be fair, it hasn't yet stopped snowing in Hertfordshire, and there's probably (haven't been outside yet, but it certainly looks like it) more than 3 inches of snow outside...
Bit of snow and the Country grinds to a halt
Yesterday it took me twice as long to get to work thanks to all the dicks that didn't defrost their cars properly and then had to drive with their faces stuck to the windscreen.

no snow for me at all, i'm very disappointed, having said that its only snowed 3 times in the 3 1/2 yrs i've been in the middle of nowhere.
