...... Kosovo.

It's been reported today that Democrat leadership is calling for a "date certain" for withdrawal of US troops out of Iraq.

I'm quite sure that if maddam Speaker thinks we've spent enough time in Iraq, then certainly she thinks we've been in Kosovo long enough.

Risky... kind of like a quieter version of Iraq... and like Iraq the shit may hit the fan in bigger ways than expected when a pull out happens...

Wait, we're still in Kosovo?

What part did they have in 9/11?

Good point. That's the politician media-whores ramping up, to say anything to get a vote. Why is it we hear nothing about Afganistan as well?

You are maybe right. Here, we will elect our next Président in a few weeks (and here, the Président is directly elected by people, not members of Parliament or anything else) and, as you point out, they ALL behave the same. I feel the same as you when the ones I will not vote for do what you are talking about, but I am able to reckon when the ones I will (by default) vote for do the same.

Well. France has troops in Afghanistan. What we get from there is that the country has not been unsafe like it is now since the invasion by the Western troops. It seems that people there do not fancy "ready to use Western democracy" imposed by bombs.

Re-enforcements to fortify positions in Iraq,Afgahnistan and plan to invade Iran eventually..Don't forget USA is run by paranoid nutcases at this time..I hope it changes soon, and some sort of sanity prevents more stupidity.

Sure, let's leave Iraq and let them in civil war...

That is a lot better than Saddam.

It definately isn't safe for your average Afgan anymore, but then it wasn't like they were happy-go-lucky then. I don't think its the bombs, as much as Western philosophy (or that ME philosophy is still in the dark ages, but they cling to it as if it were more important than life itself).....that women shouldn't be treated like animals: That they deserve an education; live in under a roof with everyone else; can wear clothing that is comfortable; etc.

The Iraq war... it is an odd war... so incredibly important and the Army is "stretched to the breaking point" according to some sources ... but the USA still has all these bases occupied in Europe and the Asian Pacific, and really no sacrifice whatsoever for Americans except for those actually being sent to Iraq... you would never know that there was a war going in daily life, except maybe for Fox News, Beck, and Limbaugh. Americans barely know who is the enemy. China is helping pay for it. Do they still have kids read Orwell, seems as relevant as ever.

Actually the base in Germany has been closing for the last two years. It takes awhile to close bases, moving people, vehicles, equipment, etc. As for the one in Japan, Its a bit necessary tohave a forward base for reaction and training reasons.
