Best Band That Have Opened For New Order

Maybe Stockholm Monsters or The Beloved for me. Maybe the Bunnymen. We were only talking about this yesterday at the footy. I couldn't honestly say that I have ever paid all that much attention to support bands. Of the last tour, Section 25 by a long chalk.
The band that opened for them in Chicago '05 (The Assassins, Assassins?)...I may have been half pissed at the time, but I remembered them souding very tight and New Order-ish circa 1980s (no chatter at all between songs, very little downtime).
Not the one that opened for them on January 29th 1989... Blimey ! That was so crap, it is the only memory I have.
Besides, I had to wait until last Saturday to see such a bad "opener" at a concert. Mind the quality ! Nothing as bad since 1989, that makes 18 years !
Do anyone know who supported them on this day, 01.29.1989 ? There is nothing to win but fame amongst the New Order's scholars... I wonder if someone still remember who they were...

By the way : The Cure played in the same place a few months before... They refused a lot of people as they were so many... New Order did not fill half the place. No need to say that I understand why they boycott our country... That is the way it was. When you were a New Order fan by the time, you felt like a "smalltown boy" in my city...

Yep, and I joined their friends list for auld times sake.... but they were boring at the New Order show I saw.....I looked it up in my journal and it read "saw New Order and Love Tractor last night. NO were great, but Love Tractor were boring....". I was a big fan of theirs at the time.

Did they really come on afterwards?... I know Biggie said it, but i seem to recall otherwise. My memory is shot these days, but i thought Underworld played an ace set, then NO played from about 11pm through to 12.30ish, and then i fecked off to the Radio 1 dance arena. Dunno.
I remember that Underworld came on AFTER NO. This I too thought was very strange at the time, but I was very, very drunk.............
