Just got back in from the last ever gig in Hammersmith Palais (admittedly, I fcut off 45mins into the Fall's set, but there you go).
JG was his usual hour-fifteen late(!) but Lunatic Fridge popped up in the pub in that time and also saw Wolfram strolling past heading for another boozer to meet his lot, so eventually caught up with them when JG finally showed.
Fall weren't on till 10.15 though. On a Sunday! Oh well.
Have to admit, I've not been there in over 21 years (er, since New Order 85) although came close couple of Xmas's back when GlasVegas was in town with Doves tickets, but I worked late ... but I've done my fair share of venues all over the world since, and it's sad to see such an absolute quality venue closedown to make way for fcuking offices. Didn't quite appreciate the majesty of the place as a nipper, but can more than see & appreciate the attraction now. As had been quoted here before though, people seem to know the price of everything these days, but the value of nothing.
RIP.
