O/T what cd in your collection you never listen to...

or listen to the least. i'm sure some of us has been guilty of impulse buying...so lets see your record buying goof-ups!

mine would be mazzy star(too mellow and droney for me), september 67 (way too "lilith fair" for me) and delirious's glo (got this for my b-day...i can't listen to christian rock at all), a soup dragons cassette, buffalot tom's sleepy eyed.

boyzone and east 17 - remnants of desperately trying to fit in with the masses when i was about 12. i soon after realised that my music tastes were on a higher plane and i shouldn't bother any more!

Guess mine would be Tongue by Penelope Houston, ex-singer of The Avengers and the author of an extremely brilliant folk/rock solo album on Subterranean. This album is on Warner/Reprise, came out in 1998, and has a song produced by Billy Joe of Green Day. Just basically a mainstream rock record that did very little for me back when it came out. A bit bummed cause I saw a show she did where she upstaged the headlining act of Throwing Muses. Maybe it's time for a reassessment.

Also, I've tried to figure out why the hell I ever bought a couple of singles by The Monochrome Set. Guess I was bored, or my brain had a temporary out-of-body experience.

I also have something by the Lightning Seeds, can't remember the title, listened to it once . And also the CD of this band singing "Lemon Tree", can't remember their name and don't really want to. Utter crap, IMHO :\puke:. How the fuck could I buy that?

Theres loads of Cd's I no longer listen to. All the material I own by the likes of E-17 for example. And all the dance compilations which were cool at the time. NO-wise...Movement obviously

Yeah! I only started buying C.D.'s about 4 or 5 years ago so if you took all the free ones out of my colloecton, I'd probably be able to get a refund from Ikea.

Bought the eponymous Jesus Jones album on the strength of a cider-fuelled gig, and am delighted to announce I managed tos wap it with a very good mate for three Fall bootlegs only a week or so later ! It was absolutely fookin' shite !

Someody bought be that load of wank from Travis as well, "The man who (mistakenly thought he was talented)", played it once. There's probably one or two equally shoddy pieces of vinyl or shiny metal in there somewhere. Oh yes, "Conscience" by The Beloved. Total bollocks.

I play it a lot myself (for the three songs you just mentioned), but it hasn't made a trip to my CD player in quite some time. To be fair, the EC cd that has spent less time in my player is the Extreme Honey or Wild Honey retrospective of his Warners years.

I haven't mate. All I got for my b'day was CD's so I've got to plough through about 12 hours of new music before I can think about getting any more!

i'm usually pretty good about actually listening to everything i buy. though i've bought my fair share of evil...the worst thing i ever bought was this GODAWFUL Bjork tribute album called Sketches of Bjork. TERRIBLE.

but i got rid of it on eBay...i thought it was so bad that i only set the price at $2, but it ended up going for around $13 to some guy in France. and i'd only paid $8 for it in the first place, so that was a nice profit!

Here's a weird one. I finally picked up Here To Stay yesterday from Tower in Portland, and their free zine Pulse, with Weezer on the cover, had a nice story on EC. In a sidebar paragraph about essential EC, under the Hard To Find But Worth Hearing heading, they listed Armed Forces, which I simply can't quite believe. Surely that can't be the hardest EC disc to find in the states?

Some records I wish I never bought:

"Album" by Public Image (Rise was the only half-decent tune on it) - what a pile of stadium cock rock shite! And their next one "Happy?" was even worse. Gave up on Lydon after that! "Lovely" by The Primitives. Short-lived bubblegum pop that lost its flavour after approximately three spins. "Republic" by New Order. I only play Regret and maybe Ruined and Everyone off it now.... "Good Feeling" by Travis and that first one by Terris (both of whom were raved about by everyone under the sun, so I bought them through curiosity and realised I made a very grave mistake by being such a gullible sucker - dire FM rock by numbers!) Paul Weller's "Wild Wood" and his last two Style Council abums - jesus christ, what a boring dick that guy has become! Suggs's solo album "The Lone Ranger" - much as I loved Madness as a youngster I couldn't help but feel much embarrassment (ha!!!) for the guy with that record. And then he went on to present "Shight Fever" on Channel 5. Dear oh dear.... I also got given to me from a mate for a birthday present one of those terrible TV advertised "Ska revival" double CD compilations...fook me - it only has the most recent sad line ups of the Beat, Specials and Selecter on it amongst tons of faceless aimless bandwagon jumping no-hopers, plus a tiny smattering of the original classics from way back when....truly awful. Couldnt bring myself to play it a second time....

I wish I never bought 'Twisted Sister - Stay Hungry' .. Yep, one of those embarrasing CDs that I purchased as a youngster. In fact, its only been played twice. Anyone want to buy it ??? :)

I wish that I didn't buy quite afew of The Cure CDs in my collection. I listen to Seventeen Seconds and Faith quite alot but not to keen on the rest anymore.

Never listen to Snivilisation? One of my all time faves, that is! Back on topic, I actually once purchased White Zombie's "AstroCreep 2000". One listen later, I decided it was time to take an extremely long, hard look at myself

'I wish I had duck feet' is possibly only topped by 'Mmmmmm Skyscraper I love you' as my favourite song title, that apart I can't recall much I like about the album.

The track that has the 'Enormous' sample is good, I seem to recall it drifts off in parts.

Twiddle your tumbs for a while, I'll give it a listen and report back.

The long-haired, work-shy, lay-about, prodigal son is a live and well.

I enjoyed that, not sure why I've never for the previous 8 years I've owned it. Parts of Philosophy By Numbers' put me on edge and the piano in 'Kein Trink Wasser' is annoying but on the whole it's gone up a lot in my estimaton. Maybe I'll eventually like Ambiemt Works II.
