This weekend, my uncle was going to get married to his longtime girlfriend, who is also having his kid. The rehearsal dinner was last night, I didn't go but one of the bride's cousins did. He sounded like a troubled kid when I sat in on a discussion last weekend about the wedding (Goth kid, into death and Marilyn Manson and what not), but he was going to be in the wedding because he was a favorite of the bride.

I come home today from school and my grandma's crying. She tells me that this kid killed himself last night, sometime after the dinner. He was only 14 years old.

I never met him, so I can't imagine why he would do it. I think everyone is melodramatically suicidal in their teens, it's just a slim difference between those who act on it and those who grow out of it. This kid never will have the chance to see how precious life is, and that fucking sucks.

So, no wedding this weekend, it's put off until a better time.

I'm so sorry....that's terrible news. Several kids I went to high school with killed themselves while we were young. Nothing is worth offing yourself.

Horrible indeed...... :(

What a shame. Amazing how the problems when we were young seemed so detrimental, yet when we look at them now it just makes me laugh. Too bad he couldn't do the laughing in the future.:(

One of the news program ms here ran a story about parents having to watch for suicidal Emos. Why do they take it all so seriously.

That really is crap news Tabsy.

Very sad indeed. Mind you, its not necessarily suicide to watch out for! I'm going to a funeral on Thursday. One of the kids I worked with. 16 year old girl found dead in a flat from heart failure. I fought tooth and nail to try to get support for her but no one cared! Sign of the times perhaps! The third kid I've worked with thats died in the last year. Tried to get help but no one wanted to know! :nonono:

I went to the visitation tonight, there was a huge line at the funeral home. A lot of people were there to see off a 13-yr.old (not fourteen, as I'd thought) who probably thought no one gave a shit about him.

I'm going to the funeral tomorrow, for sure. Yeah, I never met him but he was going to be family by this time tonight if he hadn't given up.

Makes the whole notion of "suicide as romantic" complete crap for me. Ian had genuine problems (as did Kurt), but anyone ever comes in here talking about how "beautiful" or "artistic" it was is automatically on my "ignore" list.

Thanks for all the support, guys. I wish I'd been to a wedding tonight and not a visitation, but that's the way it played out :nonono:

Keep your head up, Tabsy hun. Life is cold like that sometimes. But in all situations, keep your head up with smiles and hope.

A small anecdote: I was once suicidal. Almost succeeded in offing myself until something, somehow, just triggered in me to let go of the noose. It was then I realized that, with all the scars I have [on my arms even], it wasn't worth exiting life. Then I wouldn't have been able to meet the cool second family I have here.

So yeah, that's my suicide survival story, in a small nutshell.

I never understand why life is so damn precious, we all die eventually. If I had killed myself when I was a teenager I don't see what has been so precious about life except that I got older and nothing got any better, just the same. If I die 20 years from now it will just be the same as now, what is the difference?

But it is melodramatic to kill yourself before somebody elses big event... the point was to get attention, but it was selfish.

Sounds like you need to get out of the house more often. One post won't convice you otherwise, but you're dead wrong. Hopefully you see the light at the end of the tunnel soon.:)

Even though I agree with this in some ways, an erudite man once said his favourite motto was; Ecstasy: To Fight! Misery: To Submit.

He also said "The philosophers have only interpreted the world, in various ways. The point, however, is to change it" You don't like the world, get aff yer arse 'n' do something about it!

ps sorry to hear the sad news Tabbsy. The stuff my son (12) is going through the now is worrying me too. Like "I DIE!! I'M DEAD!!! I'M GONE!" on his Messenger, fuck sake 12year auld! How do I get him to realise that "our love is like the birds, the bee's and the flowers"? They look around and see how badly everyone's treated and think "everything's just dirt", we need to lead them back to their heart so they won't "turn around and break it". Love really is the cure for every evil, the end that supports the ego. Dostoevsky also said "Hell is when one can no longer love".

Good thoughts there. You can't make yoursellf happy by trying to make yourself happy. You can only do it by making others happy, then somehow it comes full circle around.:)
