Just got back from Liverpool Empire with me Julie.Saw Alex (Big Clive) on way out! OMD performed their 3rd album ARCHITECTURE & MORALITY in full tonight....and then some. Fcuking amazing. Opening to the title track instumental, they took to the stage and performed SEALAND,which gave me a lump to the throat. It was as emotional as hearing the Order splitting up. Paul Humphreys is looking a bit thin on top,but there was a definite Maximo Park,Perry Combover being cultured! Andy didn't disappoint. The jacket removed,he performed his flaying rag-doll to the sounds of MAID OF ORLEANS. Not bad for a 47 year old! Then they run out of album tracks.....and broke into hit after hit. Just a shame there was seating. SO IN LOVE,TALKING LOUD AND CLEAR,LOCOMOTION,TESLA GIRLS,MESSAGES,ENOLA GAY,and an encore of ELECTRICITY and ROMANCE OF THE TELESCOPE. Quite surprised that within their re-union,they still had space to play some "solo OMD" numbers,PANDORA'S BOX,WALKING ON THE MILKY WAY and SAILING ON THE SEVEN SEAS. Just in case I didn't mention,it's the original line-up,Andy,Paul,Malcolm Holmes and Martin Cooper. A beaming smile from Monty throughout.
Oh and a special mention to a quirky and very likeable Aussie duo support,LOVERS ELECTRIC who are supporting OMD on the entire tour.I met them both in the foyer and got them to sign me CD. Yes I thought they were THAT good.
Sorry no pictures folks. The phone camera pictures I took were shit.:(
