Met JG tonight after work for a cupplaswiftuns and he's off to Sanfran / LA next week to do 4 Client gigs. :eek:

Client!

On his own!

Four gigs!

Which, by my standards, I consider just a teeny bit 'ardcore!

Anyone else done/travelled anything/anywhere which they consider just a teeny bit 'ardcore?! You know, the sorta thing the regular fan in the street wouldnae even consider?

Think some of my New Order travels have been a bit OTT but I haven't been alone so I guess they won't faze anyone here.

Anyone else wanna 'fess up?! :eek3:

The trip up to Aberdeen (which took most of the day - a flight to Edinburgh, and then a train which took something like 4 hours to get to Aberdeen) for an 808 DJ set was a bit extreme! :) However, there was an 808 live gig the next day in Dundee, which made it worthwhile... Then had to catch a 6am train on the Monday morning to get back to Edinburgh, fly down to London, get into work/change, only to find out that the meeting I had to get back to, had been cancelled! :banghead: :rofl: :smoking:

Oh, and the endless trips to Manc for Massey/Gerald-related gigs is probably just a bit OTT...

Now, if 808 did a gig in America... :shades:

Erm, yeah, I was considering going to Moscow to go and see them this year, but that gig fell through at the last minute! That would have required a Visa and also pretty damn cold (it would have been in February)! :laugh: :smoking:

Belgium for a pre-season friendly between Worcester City Reserves and KSK Beveren (containing 7 of the current Ivory Coast national squad) is about as hardcore as I have got football-wise.

I'm pretty softcore when it comes to music these days, like my creature comforts and staying at home too much.

Almost flew from Phoenix to Los Angeles specifically to see Monaco at the El Rey theatre in 1997. I was on holiday there at the time and the gig was on my birthday so I was determined to go but plans fell through at the last minute. Got a boot of said gig a couple of years ago and it sounded like a cracker so a bit regretful I never made it.

Ah well, I made er... Manchester for them this year :smoking:

I was in Tokyo when New Order played the Fuji Rock Festival in 2001 but went home literally a day or two before the event. Really did agonise over making it but it would've cost me best part of a grand to get a new plane ticket and I was a student then so :shrug:

Definitely not 'ardcore then!

I've not been 'ardcore with my NO travels (only seen them on and that was in London...so not that far!), but I am friends with a band who I have known since I was 15.....as soon as I hit 18 I went to see them in Germany (they have a slight more sucses (sp?) over there tha n here) and I have been over there about 15 times in 4 years!

Not a gig but I am going to New York next week all on my own...and at only 21 I consider that fairly 'ardcore!

I lied about being 'ardcore to Hooky once. Was in New York for my 30th in 2004 which coincided with him playing with Hybrid and doing a DJ set.

The DJ set was in the VIP Section of the Candle Lounge in Tribeca and the lad on the door clearly didn't rate me as a VIP (the fool!). We were sat in the main bit when Hooky ventured out for a slash whereupon I collared him and insited he get us in cos I'd travelled all the way to NYC to see him play with Hybrid. Fair play to him, he went for his piss then walked me and the missus past the growling door monkey.

Who in their right mind would fly accross the Atlantic to see Hybrid?!! :scratch:

I can't compete with Mark, however I did go to Glasgow King Tuts to see System 7 on my own - Lightweight I know :)
