Think the pope was referring to the homophobic culture of the american armed forces where the policy of don't ask, don't tell policy regarding homosexuality is still in effect. Edel, being a marine, knows this well.

seemed fairly innocuous to me, and as I said it put a smile on my face, it didn't make me laugh out loud. Suppose one man's jumping on high horse's is another's deeply held belief (rode it often enough myself).

Also my (and if your a minor read no further) 1st reaction to pic's was the thought that the homophobic macho Russki would probably like to stick his fist elsewhere on/in Tatchell/Fred. As Shakespeare said "You protest too much me thinks" (or words to that effect).

I have just seen that footage it is indeed shocking and shouldn't be made fun of. I guess the point of that rally to expose Russian homophobia and they succeeded.

You know acouple on this board are way too sensitive when it comes to jokes. Granted it was a borderline joke, that wasn't trying to be clever, but since when are all the jokes on NOOL above juvenilism?

I haven't seen the footage, only the article. So if the footage shows something completely different than what the article portrays, than my apologies.

The film supported the story, then gave a bit of the backstory, which included footage of the rightwing group whose members were said to be responsible for the attacks.

In one scene, they are standing in parade formation, giving Nazi salutes.

The group was banned for years by the nasty Communists, but are now free to salute how they want and punch 'rock' 'stars' however they see fit.

The pendulum has swung the other way. As pendulums tend to do.

Not a good time to suggest a protest at the way Australia is legislating against its own minorities then?
