I've left it until nearly my 22nd birthday to get a job  so out of shame I've applied to every shop/cafe/bar I could! But nowhere wanted me!

Until today...I got a phone call saying I have an interview for McDonald's on Monday!

Which begs the ultimate question....Do you want fries with that?

And an Apple Pie please :food:

Good luck with it. Maybe Sunshine can give you a few tips :thumb:

When I was in the sixth form I used to worked at McDs - ended up being in charge of crew training... It's true - there is a training programme... Although in order for anyone to pass anything it was pitched at such a low level, that some of the questions were of the type: "Is this a) a fry b) a chicken nugget c) a milkshake?" Some still failed... :nonono:

I never worked for the Micks...but I did have a job at Burger King...ran the drive-thru...it was pretty fucking boring...

but at least I got a free whopper every day I worked...and $3.50 an hour...ditched that job as soon as I turned 16 and could go work at the grocers instead...Safeway even...

oops...sorry..

good luck with your interview...unfortunately, your language skill will probably be far superior to those of the person interviewing you...

3.50...i didn´t know Burger King pay in that way…I tought Mcdonnald’s was the worst. I was working in a fast food in Yellowstone in Wyoming for 6.75 per hour . After that…at the dining room for 5 months as server, they paid me 3.50 per hour plus tips….in a good night shift you could get till 300 box.

the keks were a nightmare i seem to remember. nylon brown and dead itchy and scratchy.

we had a single table in the basement for staff to eat at. the ceiling above the table was beautifully decorated with gherkins.

i was mainly on burgers and fillets. great days.

I'm assuming that was minimum wage when Jeff worked there. If i recall correctly, that's what i got paid at my first job collecting shopping carts at a grocery market. MInimum wage is now $7.15 which is still measly and it hasn't caught up with inflation.

Fast food work sucks. Look for a job at a supermarket or telemarketing. I worked at Haagen-Dazs and Dairy Queen in Philadelphia for two summers. Now, it's probably different in the UK, but here are somethings you should expect:

  1. Idiot customers who insist on having things their way and cannot read a menu even if you point to it. They also can't add, either.
  2. Customers who do not and refuse to speak English.
  3. Customers who are rude and/or racist.
  4. Co-workers who are mildly retarded.
  5. Filthy working conditions (we had rats in our store on occasion and the neighborhood smelled like sewage).
  6. Irresponsible bosses who never seem to be present or try to make you look like an idiot.
  7. Malfunctioning machines.
  8. Mopping floors.
  9. Customers who can't find a trash can eventhough it's about 4 feet tall, 3 feet wide, and bright red and leave all of their half-eaten crap on the table.
  10. And your local top 40 radio station played over and over again over the speakers.

Now, doesn't telemarketing seem a lot more appealing?

Don't do the McDonald's thing unless you absolutely have to. That's the employment equivalent of posing naked with your nuts smeared in cat food for Peter Stringfellow's enjoyment :nono:

Can't you get a job in KFC over at Teesside Park instead Nora ?

I use the drive through there alot,to get something called a FULLY LOADED..Loads and loads better than Mac D's..As is Burgerking to be honest..Maccys are a bit of a last resort really..

And we did have Starbuck on telly in Battlestar Gallactica Leggy D...He was also Face,in the A-Team.

Is Starbucks a puff's coffee gaff nowadays ? Do we have one in Boro Nora ? A Starbucks that is....we have puffs I think.
