Yes - saw the advert for it in yesterdays Mail.
Seems a slightly odd move, it also mentioned that copies would be available free at his upcoming concerts, but I'm not sure whether that will be before or after it's on sale in the shops.
Jesus Christ!!! Which one of his "people" advised him it would be a good idea to give it away in that scumrag?!!! Can someone ask Uncle Liam to post a review of it when he gets it delivered?

Oh i dunno , i used to love reading the Daily Mail ripping and slagging to pieces the likes of Chris Evans and Anthea Turner in the 90s.
He did this two years ago IIRC. My sister went to his gig in and got a a free cd for merely showing up with a ticket for the gig.
Of more interest is what he did in Minneapolis the other night. Played at the target center then arrived at 1st Ave at 245 am and played 15 tunes before the cops shut him down.
The Mail will be paying him paid loads for this. And the Mail on Sunday will sell thousands more copies than normal. The real losers, and the ones who are really pissed off, are the record shops who have 'supported' him over the years (ie made money out of him). They're fed up because their sales are falling anyway as more people download and share music amongst themselves.
Don't let them kid you though, they're still making heaps of money. And they would hardly have made much from a new Prince album anyway. I think I read that the UK distributer has pulled out and the new record won'y even go on sale in the UK now.
So that means that the imports will be the only way to buy the full record in the proper case with all the artwork (assuming the freebies will come with a card slipcase).
Whether there are any singles from the album remains to be seen, but without a distributer, these might come available in cornflakes or something.
There is a certain sense of joy that a holier than holy right-wing bastion of good taste Daily Mail is now in bed with a dirty little pervert like Prince. The cheekiness of his new album remains to be heard, but let's remember that this is the man who penned unforgettable classics like Soft and Wet, Do Me Baby and the peerless Darling Nikki:

I read about this. Seems a good move to me if his record label wont release it.

For some long forgotten reason we used to ,as kids, call the miserable twat who ran the local newsagents that exact same name , 'Pronce' .
Well, from what I understand, artists make thier money from concerts not cds. Its the record companies that make money from the cds. Given the sheer amount of cds being sold to the newspapers, seems that Prince will sell way more than normal (how many people would really purchase his new album in a store anyways?). Plus he gets mass exposure for his upcoming concerts, where he makes all his money anyways. Plus he undercuts all the worry of "stolen" music on the net. Seems like a good move to me.
And all those defending record stores, how does Prince own them? Seems that record stores (unfortunately) are a thing of the past, and only a matter of time before they all peter out. Why prolong the pain?
