Some thoughts.

Being a placentavore (and/or infantavore/autovore) may possible be considered "natural", however, do NOT pish on about the mystical natural Earth goddess bilge if you have to cook it first.....the ability to cook, prepare and store food negated our need for such nutritional recycling as chomping afterbirth...therefor cookery and the practice of eating placenta are mutually excelusive from both a temporal and evolutionary point of view. In short.....neck it fresh, raw and warm or STFU and have a burger like anyone normal.

Secondly, if the mother allows another to taste of this meat.......does that not make that other a canibal? (in fact a canibal twice over as the placenta is(was) a part of TWO people)

Best bet is to eat the kid and get the afterbirth a gig on big brother.

Anyone interested in eating a placentia after watching a live birth has to be off their rockers....seen my kids born....and it isn't a pretty sight.....wasn't able to eat for quite awhile, let alone a piece of what made me loose my cookies in the first place...

Whatever happened to the idea of getting it cryogenic-ally frozen in case the snot nosed ankle-biter needed some of it's cells in the future?

For once, I'm actually agreeing with Jeff on this one. :nonono:

delectable specimen

really those are some fine recipes; I'd imagine that sheep placentae would work just as well, and adding mint would work wonders w/ the gaminess or the lamb placenta

Nope, we've got the drop on them.

Hugh Fearnley-Whittishall cooked it up as a pate on "TV Dinners" nearly ten years ago. Remember it clearly. He even got the veggies in attendance to eat it saying it wasn't, technically, meat. Seem to remember he pureed one half of the placenta, and chopped the other half into rough pieces to make the pate very coarse! The recipe was also included in the book of the series!

In fairness, they would've cooked it with, or without him.

"TV Dinners" was a series where he went to two different family homes (one family before the ad break, the other after) just to see what they were cooking up. The normal punters were the stars, he was just an onlooker. Obviously, they weren't your run-of-the-mill meat & two veg families, and you got to see some extraordinary delights!

I bet they were solicitors or barristers and their kids were called Tarquin and Euphemia.
